Mind you i would have done a math as 6-5-4 and so on .Same result .Just cant see the Three .ha.
|

By:
2 people = 2*.5 = 1
3 " " " = 3*1 = 3 4 " " " = 4*1.5 = 6 5 " " " = 5*2 =10 etc... 21 people would be 21*10 = 210 |

Should have spent ny time in the class that you are in.
Have saved that as a new little formulae as i am trying to learn excel. It might sound funny to you but for me it is much better than the book that i bought .Ecel for dummies. |

I have a similar problem with fractional odds always getting changed into a date in Excel. With individual cells or a column of cells, you can go to format cells (click on format towards top right and then format cells at very bottom) and set it to 'text' which will keep it as whatever you type in (there may be something else you could set it on for weight but text should be ok).
There's usually help on google if you word your search ok. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090330154535AADFqVW However, this only works for me if i'm manually entering the data. I still dont know how i get around this when importing data en bloc, which is frustrating. That's about the limit of my knowledge on this i'm afraid! HTH. |

There have been other threads on this issue which have been solved by other users ~ worth looking up and acting upon.
If you still have trouble there are several fixes in excel that can be done. Better to fix the problem before importing by turning of auto formatting at the source. |

Btw, the silhouette would get it!

If you know how to insert a macro and macro enable the workbook this macro would do it for you ~
Sub Datetoweight() Range("C1").Select Selection.EntireColumn.Insert Columns("C:C").Select Selection.NumberFormat = "0.0" Range("C1").Select ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=ABS(RC[1])" Columns("C1:C500").Select Selection.FillDown Selection.Copy Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues Columns("D:D").Select Selection.Delete Shift:=xlToLeft Application.CutCopyMode = False End Sub Providing your weight data was in column C. |

Thanks for the help, Compound....yeah, i was aware about the auto formatting....just has the effect of changing odds to decimals rather than staying as fractions which i'd prefer but isnt a bigee.

Weight has a dramatic effect on tall horses .A common misconception is the larger animal will be superior where that is true in steady run events over a trip .The reverse is also true and the small horse with less weight will prevail.The stud book is a good stat to this end as most stallions are between 15.2 and 16.1.An advantage is there and more so over the height rather than other price related form.In a compettive event i know which one to side with because i have done it .Weight stops a taller horse .Fact.They are more prone to injury and in the main look inpressive but do not deliver when push comes to win.Therefore weight and racecards are linked.Still trying to work out how to do that as had a long day and maybe tomorrow.Thankyou for youur help once again.
