I would imagine that the do's and don'ts of laying are exactly the same as those of betting. Try to find value, try not to overstake etc etc. A layer is a bettor is a layer.

poster, you have been on this exchange just 8 months. Why do you consider yourself qualified to advise punters on full time betting ?

People's 'date joined' date is in reference to the date they joined the Forum and not betfair it's self, my date says 10 Nov10 - I've been using this site a helluva lot longer than that.

mesmerised, this came up before, and there was some disputing of when accounts opened and forum contributions start, nevertheless, I would have preferred he answered my question as it was civil and polite.

Without any shadow of doubt it is not join date it is the first date of registering to post on the forum for those that registered with the new forum and it is account opening date for those that registered under the old forum.

Find it a bit sad that the join date is used as some kind of badge of honour. Anyone, whether they've been on 5 minutes or 10 years area still entitled to their opinion.

Kenilworth there's no disputing here, I'm telling you I was using this site long before I bothered with the forum ,I didn't really notice there was one until it came up flashing blue saying NEW.

ebasson, I don't disagree with you, but as he posted a rather imflammatory comment, I felt entitled to ask him to elaborate on it, considering the fact that he has only been on the forum 4 days. Was I wrong ? If I was, I apologise to him and to whoever else I may have offended.

Ebasson61, I agree with what you are saying. Unfortunately Kenilworth I think Ebasson61's comment or feelings arose because earlier in this thread you also referred to ykickamoocow's time spent on the forum. I totally agree that if you are concerned that someone wants to give advice or if someone makes an inflammatory comment you should call them on it, but is there a need to refer to their time spent on the forum.
Having said that I respect your apology.

U.A. regards my earlier comment to ykickamoocow, I wondered why he felt qualified to advise forumites on those considering going full time, especially in view of his apparent short period on Betfair. Again I was polite, but he chose not to answer. Why was that inocuous question seen as out of order ?

I think that must be the wrong way round? My forum date is about July 06 but I joined BF in '02.

Funnily enough I am thinking the exact opposite ie is it time to knock this on the head and get a proper job?

Hello Kenilworth, apologies for the delay in responding. You were indeed polite in your question to ykickamoocow, although i think he did answer, he referred to embryonic/foetal prowess in his laying skills (something for which i would require further evidence before believing personally).
As mentioned previously I have no problem with the question just the reference to the timescale on the forum. Although I did not fully appreciate that at the time you were under the misassumption that the time you joined the forum is the time that you joined BF. If you did believe this then I understand/appreciate why you would make this reference to time spent on forum.
With regards to the original question, I do agree with Lori that if you have to ask then you are not ready, but also add that the two don't always have to be mutually exclusive. Why not start off by downscaling to working part-time if that's possible.

U.A. I presume the above was a generality and not specifically for me.

Stop being so precious Kenilworth. Nobody's picking on you
he does seem a bit out of touch with the world in which most forumites reside in. Needs to realise even if you win a argument here, you've still lost.

How people can put in a 50 hour + working week (with commuting) then start on here have my admiration if they can make it pay! When the feck do you get to spend time with your families?

Buzzer has made a good point. Thus, coachbuster's suggestion is probably really the only way forward for those already full time workers with important family responsibilities.

Not at all K. I should be an example to you of how not to worry about be picked on. After all it happens to me on virtually every post I make. I would be more worried if it didn't happen.

how many edges can u find and how long can u exploit them....sometimes things become so clear u wonder how u missed it..it was always staring u in the face yet u were blinded by to much information,to many stats,to many opinions,to many sleepless nights and mostly by ur own ego...its like walking through a maze and suddenly u find a way out..edges r there to be exploited and after u think u found one the complication of how to put it to best use is even more daunting..and just when u found a way to make it work it fades away as if it never existed in the first place ..its like big brother has been watching u and as soon as u start making money he puts a stop to it..how long do u wait b4 u really know its gone.FOREVER??????..:-(((
