I'm trying to create a spreadsheet taking prices from lite.betfair, the first problem i've run into is that I have to log in every few minutes, why is this? I was hoping the fact I was taking a 1 minute refresh would count as activity and keep me logged in.

Is there anyway round this?

Thanks for your help on this and to everyone who's helped me this past year, take a bow.

Betfair lite has had these problems for over two years now.  I gave up using it a long time ago and use Betd*q's version of lite.

That's probably the solution thanks RW.

By the way Roman, I was told the logging out problem was something to do with cookies.  I dont think betfair lite is high on the priorities of the BF techies.

If that's the case re cookies Rich then I could possibly solve it, but for my purposes the data on **** is ideal, much cleaner and less messing about to get it formatted as I require. So thanks again.

lite used to be very insecure, in that you could go back to it from your internet history and still be logged in on some (all?) mobile platforms. so in other words, someone could nick your phone, find betfair in it's history and get into your account.

I'm guessing this was their motivation for changing the login procedure was. the old system was convenient, but clearly needed fixed.
