i know but if i knew it was laying the draw would have never touched this
Report steeringjobnap • October 23, 2010 7:07 PM BST
unfortunately, it would appear you have been caught with your pants down.

I've seen each of those "edges" discussed on the General Betting forum over the years...
Report Rocket to the FACE • October 23, 2010 7:11 PM BST
You've been on here for 7 years and you still think you can win on Betfair following a £54 system?

The mind boggles.
Report hiltonfish1 • October 23, 2010 8:08 PM BST
the mind boggles???
ive bought over 30 systems over last 2 years had good results
gives u more ideas
am in pprofit over last 2 years buying systems

I agree with Rocket.
Report steeringjobnap • October 23, 2010 8:27 PM BST
boosting about the profits made from buying someone else's "edge"
makes you a mug.

eventually, the vendor will saturate the market with people using it, and the edge will no longer exist...

besides, why would anyone want to give away their money-making secrets...
Report ZEALOT • October 23, 2010 10:40 PM BST
steering -- you are wrong about the market adjusting to every edge --- very wrong
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR • October 23, 2010 10:50 PM BST
If an edge is made public, the market will adjust, that is for sure.

Are you saying you are in profit due to following systems you bought, or that the systems you bought gave you ideas that you used to trade your own methods?

In the early days of BOtfair I had a conversation on the telephone with "Bert".After failing to sort out a problem we began chatting.I asked the question "do you think that there could could many long term winners on BOtfair given the crippling effect of commision?"
He truthfully admitted that in his opinion "there were unlikely to be many long term winners."
This was in the early days of Betfair when the markets were Bot free and PC and transaction charges plus the in house trading team had not been introduced.
Whilst it may take an Einstein to win consistently on here these days, you don't have to be a genius to understand the difficulty of trying to beat BOtfair given the opposition and the charges.

Haha, not the "Lay the draw" cobblers, has this ever been up before?
Report altobelli • October 27, 2010 8:07 PM BST
I know lay the draw is not a perfect system, but i've tried it and have made a small profit using it. Picking the right games can give you a better advantage. I've no complaints as i'm in profit but i doubt ill make my fortune from it. As regards systems, i've bought loads because i get ideas from them and develope my own systems. I've never bought a system that has made me money long term but i've developed some winning systems from them.
Report turtleshead • October 27, 2010 8:17 PM BST
How do you "pick the right games"? What criteria do you use? What if it ends 0-0 or the underdog scores first? etc etc.

"all lay the draw trade out to go green"

Just laughable.
Report The Betfairy • October 27, 2010 9:04 PM BST
Of course you can make money using the Lay The Draw system.  You can make money using just about ANY system.

The test comes not in winning money, but in winning money consistently.  Suddenly, the majority of those systems don't look so appealing.

Hold on, this system tips a match to lay the draw...

and then green up later on?

What is this sh*t? Why are you paying for this? Why do you still think it's good?

I have developed my own version of 'lay the draw' which makes me a profit, not a huge profit but a regular roi%. It is 1 of a few systems i use to make profits on here and of course i have losing trades. This is what i do on here, develope my own systems that make small profits often after an idea i have to develope or tweak 1 of these systems you can buy online or from an idea someone on the forum has come up with. I don't spend hours looking for the 'holy grail', if it exists good luck to whoever finds it/has found it. What i am good at is making small regular profits using my knowledge of football and maths and picking out the games that suit my criteria. And when i win it is just laughable, because i never thought i'd make money on here and nearly packed it in. Small and often is my system and it suits me.

There is money to be made laying draws, not willy nilly but assuming you know how to price up the fav. Bookmakers like the draw on their side so it follows in a lot of matches the draw is  under priced making it a value lay IMO
Report Bridgeboy • October 28, 2010 1:00 PM BST
Fair play to the op, i think a high % of people start on bf with this system and soon realise its faults but this usually leads them onto something else, good luck op and if youre making money well done. . .

Thinking of buying the system. What's the tennis system like?
Report adsyb999 • November 22, 2010 4:45 PM GMT
Is the football system simply laying the draw @ then "greening out" after the 1st goal?
Report The Betfairy • November 22, 2010 5:05 PM GMT
IMO, a con of the highest order (as are all systems for sale), probably run by some money-sucking Australian who thinks it's perfectly acceptable to scam people because "the scamees should know better".  In other words, the kind of person who charges old grannies 50K to replace a perfectly good roof.

On the other hand, he may be giving away free money out of the kindness of his heart.
