I just had a look at this and for the life of me cannot see how any punter in their right mind would touch it with a barge pole. You could drive a bus through the spreads and I am sure this is nothing but a mathematical game of chance.
Who in God's name did they think would use this...must have cost a fortune to setup and imho a total waste of their money...or should I say their shareholder's money.
Sure glad I didn't but their shares at the price they were looking for but it does seem that some unfortunates did.

somebody has to be the bait if what you proclaim is true...if the house has a theoritical advantage of 5,xx% in real physical casinos, just imagine what they have in a totally programmed one

I read somewhere that Betfair put the liquidity into this market, or at least they reserve the right to do this, so they are making money at it, imo.

Yes, I think it is poor in comparison to raceclubs. I mean, there I can train my own horses and then race them for real money. It is different because you get to run your own stable, and it is fun and can be profitable, you can buy and sell your horses, etc. Here on betfair you can only watch some virtual race and bet on it. I wrote to betfair and tol dthem they should partner with raceclubs and offer this product to betfair punters, but, alas, no response.

I haven't looked at this for a few months. When I read this yesterday I had a look in and there was the dizzy amount of £48 matched, on the current race, at the off. Just looked again, at the first race today, and there was £12 matched at start time but the market was open for almost two minutes after that. So nothing has changed since it was first rolled out!

I spent a week or two analysing this and remember a thread on here where I mentioned that I thought that not all the factors were being revealed (For example some races where every horse mysteriously ran a second faster or whatever). Someone else who said enough that it was obvious they'd analysed it too, and I'm sad to say their name escapes me, agreed and at that point I just gave up trying.
If you're going to make a game with quite interesting factors, it's important that a) All the factors (other than the random ones) can be analysed and b) That people looking at the game realise just how complex it actually is.
