I'd like to get a hotel booked soon as I had a lot of trouble at short notice last year. Do you know where we are going yet?

Good morning, pumpkinslayer. Like you I was concerned about not being able to get a room, as you say last year was crazy.

I took a punt and booked somewhere central(ish);
Radisson Edwardian Grafton, London (Tottenham Court Road)

Booking through Hotels-London.co.uk and got a fantastic rate

pumpkin, unfortunately The Magician is banned from posting.

Passing on details, the venue will be oxo tower or Goodmans steak restaurant. Both within a £10 cab ride of the hotel I mentioned (lots more hotels around the area too).

That's ironic isn't it. The guy who is organising it all is banned from posting!

I appreciate there are many others involved but I favour the oxo as I don't eat meat (but do eat fish) and others might be similar. Also I found the food and atmosphere there to be top notch.

I'll check out the hotel the suggested and hopefully get it booked tomorrow.

Several of us are going to Sandown races that day, more are welcome.

First race 12:55

Let me know if interested and we can all catch the same train down.... 

I guess I plan to catch the 10:53 am train – which will mean we arrive on course 1 hour before the first.

(waterloo to Esher – take about 30 minutes) – happy to go to breakfast first in waterloo or Esher if people are interested.

Last race 3:30

We will catch a train back casually after the last and arrive in London prior to 5PM



EVENING

Please gather at OXO brassiere 5PM onwards, there is a nice bar there, look for the large group of eclectic un-kept men.

Dinner is booked for ‘28’ People 6PM, under “The Magician” and table needs to be returned by 8PM – so we can’t really be late.

Less than week away – thought Sandown looks certain to be cancelled – so will not be going racing.


Note: anyone is welcome, this in NOT invite only (so horseman come along) but I have to book places – a night mare in London, see details below

I'm afraid any chance of me making an appearance has now gone. I spent the whole of last week with sore bones and sweats and ended up with a chest infection. My breathing hasn't improved any since and even if it had by Saturday the weather and recycled flight air would hardly be ideal comeback conditions.

I am travelling by train this time, less hassle overall. Hopefully not affected by the snow, it's certainly not too bad here in Yorkshire.

I am travelling from Leeds by train, a reduced service in operation but no probs.

A significant rise in temperature due overnight should see a massive improvement in conditions too.

Several people asking why I was banned.



Well in brief there was in issue in Australia (my home land) between a Turf club and an associate I had known for years.



In brief, he was ‘allegedly’ slandered, by the club, then a racing website and then finally a state newspaper.



On the ‘Australian Forum’ I posted factual information about know published events and progress in the ensuing (ongoing) libel case. All irrefutably provable.



Betfair Australia was sensitive to this... and banned me.



A ‘good’ reputation with Betfair UK got me unbanned... I also volunteered NOT to post on the topic until case resolved.



6 months later...  Betfair Australia, apparently conducted some joint advertising /promotion etc with said website from above. I received betfair advertisements from them, ‘special rebate/prize’ like email



I stared another thread about the involvement of the website in the above case – and how their actions where not those of a company Betfair should “get into bed with”



Betfair Australia – gave me a ‘life’ ban.



NOTES



1)      I was warned and I gave an undertaking not to comment

2)      I can prove every comment I made

3)      I cant say I don’t deserve the consequences

4)      I don’t think Betfair should protect these people

5)      But I understand Betfair cannot adjudicate every issue

6)      I was happy to sign a document placing all legal reasonability of my comments onto me not betfair



All in all I DESERVED to be banned... I was warned MULTIPLE times, and AGREED not to comment.  Sadly something developed that stopped me from keeping that agreement... (the joint 'advertsiging')



To be honest Betfair have done me a favour – as I don’t get involed in many fruitless troll like discussion here.



But I do miss some decent chats and people.
