If you haven't entered yet please do so on the "GOLF COMPETITION - all welcome" thread on Chit-Chat, Golf or General Betting forums.
Betfair have been kind enough to support this competition with a £300 prize fund which will go to those filling the top 4 places. In the event of a tie prize money will be divided equally between those involved.
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE POSTED BEFORE 6 O'Clock Thursday morning

ISSUES and RECTIFIABLE PROBLEMS
shaggykev, frank60, you need to pick a number not name for section I (leading 1/2way score)
donemynuts - did you mean 4 over par or 4 under for the 1/2way leading score
Nilsson Schmilsson- no top American picked
Suede-  no South african selection from you either.

INTERESTING STATISTICS from the first 174 entries
Top senior player -  Lehman (57 picks), Watson (57) by far the most popular

Top Aussie - Allenby (36), ogilvy (45),  scott (47), a fair spread on the rest

Top Continental European - fairly evenly spread, except for only 1 pick each for; Canizares, Siem, Noren (by me), Haastrup (by southender who I hope won't mind me noting, has the most unusual selections all round)

Top English - quite even too, everyone has been chosen several times

Top Irish - Harrington, Mcdowell and Mcilroy share most, with a few picks for the rest

Top US Player- Woods (62)
Top South African - Els (80) The most overwhelming favourite of all

1st day leader- for some strange reason Justin Rose (18), heads this list, with woods (13), Fisher. R (9), McDowell (8), Darren Clarke (another surprise to me)(7), McIlroy (7)

Halfway leading score:-8 (20) -7 (38) -6 (33) -5 (26) only 2 picks over par

Americans in top 10 after day 3: 2 -(33), 3 -(57). 4 -(56),  2 of you think there will be 7, and 4 of you, just 1. No-one went for 0

Winning margin: 25 of you think there will be a playoff, 50 of you that it'll be won by 1 shot, 71 of you by 2 shots, 3 shots (23 picks), 4 shots (2), 5 shots (1) and 6 shots (1)
Quite surprising this, given than when Woods won here in 2005 it was by 5 strokes and in 2000 it was by 7.

Final winning score:
Picks range from 266 (1) to 286 (1). Most popular are: 275 -(18). 276 -(27), 277 -(19), 278 -(17), 279 -(19), no-one went for 269 (the winning score in 2000)

You all put a player insted of a score for section I.
Unless changes are put forward before 6am, you won't score for section I, sorry

suede - You didn't select a South African!

other than that all the selections seem to be OK, up to 261 entries so far.

I'll put all the stats up once the competition starts and keep you updated at the end of each day.

Good Luck everybody

well done for running the competition, but haven't you got anything better to do than compile stats over some two bob competition?

There are 288 entries into the competition. I'll update after each day's play

Here are the most notable statistics.

Top Senior: 92 of you picked Tom Lehman, 90 - Tom Watson

Top Aussie: Robert Allenby is on 60 lists, Geoff Ogilvy 75 and Adam Scott 78

Top European: Much more evenly spread this section, Martin Kaymer is the most selected (56) and Alejandro Canizares and Marcel Siem have been selected just once each, Alexander Noren and French amateur Dubuisson are on 2 lists

Top Englishman: Fisher, Rose, Poulter, Casey and Donald all well represented, 2 picks for Zane Scotland and 1 pick each for Archer, Khan and a surprising 1 for Faldo.

Top Irish Player: 90 of you have plumped for Padraig Harrington, 71 for McDowell and 96 for McIroy.

Top American: Just 1 each for; Bohn, Calcavecchia, Cink, Crane, Day, Daly (inspired ?!), Gay, Kelly, O'Meara, Points. Favourites are, unsurprisingly, Woods with 102 picks and Mickelson 45.

Top South African: 130 of you went for Ernie Els. the rest are represented to varying degrees.

1st round Leader: 1 person picked John Daly (looking good at this early stage), many different selections in this section, but big favourite is Justin Rose who was picked 38 times.

1/2way leading score: Wide range here, from -12 to +4 strangely not a single pick for level par. Still, unless the wind picks up -12 is far more likely.

Americans in top 10 after day 3: 2 of you think 7, everyone else from 1 to 6.

Winning Margin: Only 2 people think it will be more than 4 shots (1 picked 5 shots and 1, 6 shots) 25 of you have gone for a playoff.

Winning score: 1 each for 266, 267, 288 and 295. 2 each for 268, 270, 286 and 287. the rest are between 271 and 285. No-one picked 269.
