Don't look at the results of your bets.

What logic are you applying to your winning streak?

I the answer is none then this will always happen.

Could be down to -

1. TIREDNESS......and it being late in day.
2. DISTRACTIONS .
3. GREED.
4. BETTING ON EVENTS WHERE YOUR EDGE IS NON-EXISTANT.
5. OVER-STAKING DUE TO LACK OF CONCENTRATION.

"Winning streak"......inplies you just can't get it wrong....so you can have a false sense of a bet being "good".

All down to you controlling yourself.....not an "easy" thing to do.

GL trying to do that.

Depends what you mean by 'losing your discipline', which I
suspect the definition is 'backing losers'. For some reason
punters expect the backing of winners as the norm, but when
the correction (losers) arrives, they want to call it some-
thing else, in this case 'lack of discipline'. It's what
happens and you will have to learn from it and accept it.

you probably stake recklessly all the time, when you're winning you think you're perfoming well and are  indestructible but when the inevitable loser comes you blame poor discipline even though that's how you've been staking when you were winning!

Winners = Good judgement
Losers = Lack of discipline

This is true. There is no guarantee that you have been acting in a disciplined manner while winning. It is quite possible to win a lot of money betting in a very haphazard manner.

The key thing is to realise when moments like this usually effect you and to do something about it. Even if it means just switching off your computer and going for a long walk/run to get away from your PC. You have to find a way of breaking the behavioural patterns that you usually follow. Otherwise you will tend to repeat your usual way of doing things when placed in a similar stressful situation.

I can't answer that for you though. You got to find your own path.

im making a list of my bad habits as well as strenghts and weakness but as a kind of rule list not with selections but were my losers or winners were good bets or bad esp were value is concerned i think its best having some overlook in this area ...

if that is your mindset and you are making money then you are probably just over staking.  I do it as well.

agreed but i think that checking the reasons why you acted in a certain way to your bets is the way forward thanksGrin for the input guys

nothing wrong with a reverse tilt and having a bigger than normal bet if you've had a good run imo. but if it goes t1ts up don't then chase the losses.

When it used to happen to me it was for this exact reason:-

I'd go on a winning run and so I'd be feeling good and confident. However, I'd always work towards some goal or target and if I reached it early in the week then I'd add on another target etc etc

That's basically just a long way of saying I kept getting greedy, but greed can manifest itself in different forms and it can take you some time to analyse it and see it in yourself.

If the OP's methods were sound, he wouldn't
be asking the question in the first place.

Have rules. Stick to these rules before having a bet.
Keep records of all bets.
Have a bank, bet % of bank.
There will be more losing days than winning ones.
If your rules are sound and your staking is sound, and your bank is sufficient to cover at a sequence of losing bets, carry on as before.
Its all about the long run.

Key useful element is to realise that most streaks, bad or good, are down to luck. It's just standard variance. You can only evaluate recent performance in chunks of several hundred bets at minimum.

Once you realise that - and equally, believe it - then you won't really give a monkeys what happens day to day, or week to week.

Spot on. If your selection process is sound, then accept that there will be losing runs and winning runs, in no order whatsover. Its random.
Which is why any system based on 'sequences' will lose in the long run.

When I hit a winning run, I start to imagine that horses/teams are winning simply because I've backed them.

I think I can do no wrong and no longer need to pay attention to the methods that got me the winning streak in the first place.

The number of times over the past twenty years where I've had, say, £2,000-£100 and £1,500 to £120 about the first two winners on a card, then chucked away £1,100 to £800 on a losing favourite in the next, because I'm suddenly invincible and the value odds no longer matter ...Sad

Perhaps you are using 'lack of discipline' to fool yourself into thinking that your methods are viable when you lose.
