Ok, I've never looked at the 'Scorecast' market before so I could be missing something but surely this market is a little doolally:

http://sports.betfair.com/Index.do?mi=101376838&ex=1&origin=MRL

I've been watching it this morning and have some money on it and it definitely seems botish. Many of the odds matched can be found at higher odds on the high street; up until a couple of hours ago, more money had been placed on this market than the main odds market; surely the book shouldn't be 101%?

I'll let you experts have a look as I'm not 100% on the rules of this market (I'm assuming 0-0 means all bets lose - assuming each player plays; I'm assuming another playing scoring first means all these bets lose, etc) but surely something's up?

For example, earlier on I was laying Fletcher unquoted at 19.5! Gone up now but the whole market's still twitchy.

I'll be honest i've never ventured into this market before but there seems a ridiculous amount matched on some of these, Jerome 1-0 is one!
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 11:43 AM BST
Yes, the 1-0s and the Unquoteds look very strange. McFadden 1-0 is at least 26.0 on the high street but someone/something keeps taking 15-17.

I've seen something similar before but at greater margins on a market i know well. That was a Saturday morning too. It's just not knowing the market and not having all eventualities listed that's putting me off going any deeper.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 11:44 AM BST
I've just had McFadden 1-0 matched at 14. This is**ers.
Report vic May 1, 2010 11:47 AM BST
Is it that if none of these score first you will get your money back on here but lose it on high street?
Report Lay Low May 1, 2010 11:47 AM BST
Are you certain that all players listed will be in the starting line up?
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 11:49 AM BST
I think Benitez may be out.

I'm not sure if you get your money back if a player listed doesn't score first. It doesn't say in the Rules. I've looked deeper into the Rules and there's nothing there.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 11:54 AM BST
I've spoken with Betfair and if a player not listed scores first then you lose your bet (assuming your player is or has been on the pitch).
Report brendanuk1 May 1, 2010 11:58 AM BST
Someone knows the line ups (nap)
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 12:00 PM BST
some of the goalscorer and unquoted have traded at shorter than the actual unquoted price in the correct score market
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:00 PM BST
I'm not so sure. If you look at all players and all scores then you'll see that at some point a lot of money was placed. All seems to have happened at the same time and quite early on. Since then it's been a bit erratic.

Yep, it's definitely been screwed up at some point. I think it still is but going to wait for team news before deciding my next step.
Report Lay Low May 1, 2010 12:05 PM BST
Templeton Peck, if you think Benitez will not play recalculate the market without the Benitez options. Then consider if laying is good option.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:07 PM BST
Test.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:08 PM BST
I'm having trouble posting. I think it's because I copied and pasted from a website. Anyway, all players play.
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 12:14 PM BST
Templeton,

Where did you confirm line up?

If Jerome, Benitez and McFadden are all playing, then those are seriously mispriced!

Also on the football forum, not that I'd trust that.
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 12:18 PM BST
Ok cheers.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:26 PM BST
The market's definitely screwed. I wonder what's causing it.
Report McChicken_Sandwich May 1, 2010 12:29 PM BST
Great thread TP.

Cheers.
Report layer1982 May 1, 2010 12:30 PM BST
keep this thread quiet now and collect imo....
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:32 PM BST
Too late, I stupidly went to the football forum to try and get the market sorted so I could green up. Although no responses so doubt they realise.
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 12:35 PM BST
does anyone know how much is usually traded on these scorecast markets?
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:36 PM BST
I had a look at Man City earlier and it was about £300! I'm actually getting a bit freaked out by what's happening.
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 12:37 PM BST
there's £669 matched so far on man city-villa and whilst i understand that this is the early sky game it seems a hell of a lot matched for a market such as this!
Report JamesBlakesHugeArse May 1, 2010 12:38 PM BST
i know why this is happening - bot confused with 100%
Report JamesBlakesHugeArse May 1, 2010 12:38 PM BST
it doesnt understand how the market works
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:39 PM BST
Yes, the bot thinking 100% is what it is.
Report JamesBlakesHugeArse May 1, 2010 12:39 PM BST
fantastic spot this - has made my day
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 12:44 PM BST
i wonder if it's the bots first, and last, venture into the scorecast market ;). I'm sure it wont be the MSE anyway ;)
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:45 PM BST
Suspended?
Report JamesBlakesHugeArse May 1, 2010 12:45 PM BST
someone is in all kinds of trouble
Report layer1982 May 1, 2010 12:45 PM BST
ffs what for??? Their mistake...
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:45 PM BST
Could be me if Fletcher unquouted or Benitez 3-2 comes in!
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:46 PM BST
Could the bot's owner have asked them to suspend?
Report layer1982 May 1, 2010 12:46 PM BST
what if it is betfairs bot??
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 12:46 PM BST
someone's just got back from tesco and seen the carnage
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:48 PM BST
Probably smug that they'd got two for one chocolate fingers but then saw this!
Report McChicken_Sandwich May 1, 2010 12:49 PM BST
I'm just hoping it doesnt finish 1-0 og :)
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 12:50 PM BST
Oh, if only I went with my instincts. You do sometimes get things that are too good to be true and I've not taken anywhere near enough advantage.

What's your favourite chart? I like the Benitez 3-2 one.
Report JamesBlakesHugeArse May 1, 2010 12:59 PM BST
if you were the only one to have spotted this you could have done some serious damage
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 1:07 PM BST
Yes, I had to weigh up getting some advice at the cost of reduced profits or steam ahead and potentially missing something and losing a lot of money. I played safe.

Hopefully if others spot something similar then they'll let me know. Although I won't hold my breath...
Report Lay Low May 1, 2010 1:13 PM BST
This could be a classic thread and preserved forever. So for the record £255,358 was traded on this market.
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:15 PM BST
Jerome or og?
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:16 PM BST
og i'd say

If you've put the mockers on it then you're in trouble! ;)
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:20 PM BST
Do betfair go with the press association on goalscorers. I notice they Jerome as the goalscorer
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:21 PM BST
they've now altered it to og
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 1:22 PM BST
Thank God for that.
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:27 PM BST
goaal ;)
Report Lay Low May 1, 2010 1:30 PM BST
For the record Benitez scores in 41st min. 2-0
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 1:30 PM BST
will the bot owner venture into the scorecast market again with that Benitez goal ;) i've looked at the in play games and not much traded i wonder why this match was the chosen one
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 1:33 PM BST
For the record, Benitez 3-2 is my biggest red. Although could back 3-2 score to green up. Decisions, decisions...
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 1:46 PM BST
A very expensive error for that bot owner.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 1:52 PM BST
Again for the record, I backed 3-2 scoreline so can't lose now. Although will be pretty much £0 if it finishes 3-2.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 1:52 PM BST
A guy on the football forum is saying he's been on it all night and stood to make six figures. I have no idea if he's a reliable sort or not so could be hogwash.
Report McChicken_Sandwich May 1, 2010 2:23 PM BST
Not the big win I was hoping for on this market, but decent enough, thanks again TP.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 3:06 PM BST
You're welcome. Same here, although the smart move was to lay all of these scorelines and so probably for the best I just did a few of the more crazy ones.

Just hoping they don't void it as is being suggested as a possibility on the football forum. They haven't paid out yet although hopefully just clarifying own goal or not...
Report JML May 1, 2010 3:33 PM BST
If this is going to cost Betfair money, you can guarantee that they are thinking long and hard about voiding the market.
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 3:37 PM BST
I just see absolutely no justification for voiding the market.
Report buzzer May 1, 2010 4:15 PM BST
a disgusting decision if they void
Report McChicken_Sandwich May 1, 2010 4:16 PM BST
I wont let it rest if they did void, and I hope others would follow suit.
Report The Investor May 1, 2010 4:18 PM BST
Just spotted this.

Very high liquidity. This markets normally only has a fraction of that matched right?
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 4:19 PM BST
Me too McChicken.

I didn't have a large position, but I'll be absolutely disgusted if they void (presumably because they're protecting a large customer (or themselves) from a big loss) because of what it implies for future markets.
Report The Investor May 1, 2010 4:21 PM BST
It looks like it will be voided. Anyone rang betfair?
Report SM May 1, 2010 4:27 PM BST
Settled?
Report Contrarian May 1, 2010 4:27 PM BST
Settled.

Well done Betfair - the correct decision.
Report The Investor May 1, 2010 4:28 PM BST
Wonder what took so long. They must have been considering what to do.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 4:30 PM BST
That's good news. I wonder if it was Betfair or a bot owner who screwed up. I've not seen anything like it and just wish I'd made more of it. Still, a nice start to the day.
Report JML May 1, 2010 4:33 PM BST
Just realised that the winning combination was quoted.
This means that the bot proberbly made a profit.
Report Templeton Peck May 1, 2010 4:38 PM BST
Hopefully the bot owner doesn't realise their mistake and springs up somewhere else!

:0 how much!!

Wish I'd come on the forum now instead of closing it as a distraction all afternoon.

Anyone take any screenshots of the market or any graphs?
Report The Investor May 1, 2010 6:07 PM BST
Huge amounts matched early on at outside prices, markets stabilized after that.
