always advertised in the weekly handicap book about 20\25 years ago.......anyone mad enough to buy it??

Yea I was mad enough. It was cleverly worded as though it was one system that chose one bet a day. When it arrived I realised that it was 2 systems. One was a lost stake retrieval added to a fixed profit per race on Speed-Plus selections(bound to work if you have an unlimited bank). The other was the most popular selection of the day by tipsters(made a loss). He bragged about any of the first system big priced winners then wove his words carefully into the second one-a-day system giving the IMPRESSION of big priced winners from only one selection a day. Very clever but naughty. Its been good for me to be conned by these people cos Its made me tread my own successful betting life !!

Yes remember it well. Went halves with a mate to buy it. Never looked back. Still use part of the system in my sorties with the layers to this day.
The 'part of the system' I'm referring to are the column headers. Remember them? AIM ODDS STAKE RESULT PTR + - Seem to remember that the PTR (points to recover) column used to have some very big numbers in it. Dawson did write a good advertisement though. Went something like this..... a busy week this week. Royal Ascot, Wimbledon with strawberries and cream and the Test match - Dawson system followers - MONDAY - WON 7/2, TUESDAY - WON 6/1. +£147 on the week.... Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. |

He did guarantee that it would work though. He said that if you went a month without a winner then he would work it till you had a profit. So if you had 7* 30=210 losers in a row you'd be fine! Of course the chances of that would be very slim indeed. And anyway by then you'd have to putting millions on, so it was a pretty worthless guarantee.

didn't buy it but remember the adverts in the old SCHB, Bob Dawson, and usually on p.3. ev wk.
was told once what the system was , and if I remember right it used the top-rated Speed-Plus selection from the Sporting Chronicle. Basically doubling-up, it could work fine, but sooner or later you would need a massive bank to see it through. Cleverly worded adverts though, and something like, "If the Dawson system fails to win you £100 in 30 days....I will arrange for it to be operated for you until £100 has been won." That was obviously another scam and not sure what he done to get out of that one (?) Other tipsters I remember in the paper at that time (SCHB):- R.J.Francis, Charles Cox, John Judge (on Hove Greyhounds), Fineform, M.L.Midgley, Geoff Randall, Sammy Millbanks, P.Pickering (One Horse Wizard), M & B, Paul Raynor.......loads of 'em. |
