Like an idiot I have placed a bet whilst distracted.

I've backed a horse in the TO BE PLACED market at odds : 2.12
I placed £95.00 on it! (don't ask)

How do I trade out of this please?

No different from any other market, lay it.
Report buzzer April 13, 2010 1:59 PM BST
lay at the same price for the same amount of money or at the current price, either winning or losing a few pounds. Go to more options and click 'WHAT IF' to get the required green or red

The horse is currently now : 2.18 TO BACK and 2.24 TO LAY

What would you do in this situation?

Thanks.

trade out to a level loss, I would.

Agree with 1.01 Layer. Take the small loss and save your heart.

Sorry about this. I want to learn how to trade, so this may well be a blessing in disguise.
This trading lark scares me to death...

So if I enter: 2.12 as my lay odds, will it get matched straight away?
Report 1.01 Layer April 13, 2010 2:16 PM BST
THe pink price is the laying price
Report The Lizard King April 13, 2010 2:19 PM BST
I know that yeah lol

So, if I take the current lay price of 2.22 I will lose £9.46

Does that sound right?

TLK , you have been on here for almost 8 years and should know this by now , but if you still are insecure , just put in a lay of £ 2 at 2.12 and see what happen.
Report Roger OASIS April 13, 2010 2:20 PM BST
Yes but you can juggle the amount so you are - £ 4.00 odd either way.
Report 1.01 Layer April 13, 2010 2:22 PM BST
If you use the "what if" with google chrome, beware incorrect figures btw

You nwould lose £ 9.46 if the horse placed , but you **uld break even if it didn't place.

Thank you Eddie The Eagle.
That's what I've ended up doing.

Yes, I've been here about 8 years (didn't know it was that long!) but I've never traded before.
Simply because it confuses me.

I've just had a crash course from you lot as it was panic stations time.

I realise I need to learn this as it seems every body who knows what they're doing on betfair - knows how to do it.

Thanks all.

It's ok, I'd backed it to win too.............

I didn't have £95.00 on the place though lol.
