Well, got £40 left that I am using for betting, tried so many different things in betting and this is the last ... the last few days I have turned the £40 into £42.81. The forum is the best place to keep a history of it ... smaller bets will be placed at bookies, and the larger bets if I need them will be placed here.
Every £1.43 I win at the moment increases the stakes, I have divided the money into 5 banks at the moment, and the following gets added to each bank as every £143 is won. Sometimes though I will back lower than the money in bank 1 like I have with the first bet of the thread, this further increases the amount of bets and profits .....

Oh dear - 04 when will you learn that any system that requires you to bet your entire bank on the outcome of a single event isn't worth the 4 seconds that it took to devise it.
Congrats though on picking a nice low variance bet like laying the home team in the opening match of a World Cup.

I don't think you have been reading the thread properly ... this is now the 5th bet of a £135 bank, and if you look a bit more closely I have not put my "entire" bank on any bet

no rocket to the face, he will start another thread doing the exact same theory. and will lose again. he has done it lots of times.
to be honest though, it would be good to hear his thoughts on why this didnt work despite all the advice and tips that it would fail.
he was determined that it would work and wouldnt accept that long term he would hit a run of losers that would wipe him out.

you were told, but there's no harm in finding out for yourself. will this be a lesson though? or fuel for another one of your threads?
hopefully you'll learn and use your strengths in a different approach.
what's your plan now?

It can all be used if you adopt another approach.

Hard luck Schalke, but it was inevitable, if you want an idea to get you started in how to put your skills to another use let me know, it won't involve pure gambling and predictions though, so no gambling 'kicks' as such are involved, more watching markets and time consuming.

Its probably appropriate for Lori to step in at this point and put down some sage words coupled with the final stats on this challenge.
I really do hope that this doesn't knock you too hard. So many people have tried to point out that this, and variations around this form of gambling, would almost inevitably lead to this end.
All the best.

As soon as I came in and saw 14 new posts I knew what had happened.
I am soooo going to bump this thread for the next 10 years.

Well one thing's a 1.01 near certainty that 04 won't be returning to update the final table. He always seems to mysteriously vanish from the forum when he goes broke.

The problem is that no amount of banks or jiggling with banks, betting methods or staking plans will make bets that are struck at below expected value profitable in the long term.
It's like trying to overcome the house edge at roulette, or any other casino game - can't be done - not now, not ever.
If you have no idea whether or not the bet you have struck is +ev then you shouldn't be making it.
Whether or not any particular bet wins is, in the long term, irrelevant - value is key. Make value bets and the winnings will take care of themselves.
The only exception to this rule is if you are intending to trade out of the bet before it closes - but here you have to be certain that the likelihood of the market moving in the direction you need will happen with sufficient frequency and degree to make this trade a long-term winning proposition over a large number of bets.
It's value again - just thinly disguised.

Each of Shalke's threads serve as perfect illustrations to the would-be gambler of the importance of value betting in the development of a long-term winning strategy.
It is simply astonishing that he still doesn't get it.

I think that it's the fact that he's been told repeatedly that he would lose the lot that really annoys him.
Whatever - it's standard for Sulker04 (thanks Morrigan) to update his threads in meticulous (indeed nauseating) detail when he's winning, call everyone who tries to help him a bunch of idiots, and then to insta-vanish when he loses.
No doubt he'll return in a few months with another crackpot short odds scheme.

schalke, you'd get alot more respect if you did post some finishing words on this thread
after all, you have had 3 months worth of fun/hobby for 26 quid, which is alot less than most peoples hobbies cost. this system doesnt work, which may be hard to take, but at least you have learnt that lesson for almost zero loss. most people, including myself, have had much more expensive lessons.

Schalke punts by the theory that it is the result that matters not the odds.
therefore it is timely we consider these points.
--- Result = lost his 40 --- Odds that this challenge would have been successful = 1000-1
No real surprises there.
