TAKE ME OUT, freedie...
Welcome on th' poop deck! I be glad to help a fellow scurvy pirate to become a scurvy pirate trader. First, ye have to be tellin' me what ye be currently doin' here on Betfair - what sports? tradin' or bettin'? what stakes? Now ye have to ask yourself th' extra basic questions that each trader needs to be knowin' before beginnin' 'tis long journey --- 1) How much can I handle losin' without carin'..be it 1%, 2%, 5% 'o me buried treasure? fer every trader 'tis different. (fer a guide, I started at 3%, but have be scalin' it below 'n be now 2%. i reckon ye can be a wee bit more aggressive at th' beginnin' 'o ye career wit' smaller stakes). |

STYLE
So, first ye set ye maximum liability PER TRADE. ye must also now decide ye STYLE 'o tradin'. To do 'tis, ye need to decide if ye want to 1) Win small amounts often, wit' occasional large losses or 2) Win occasional large amounts 'n have many smaller losses. 'tis depends on ye personality. ye need th' solid patience 'o an barnacle-covered sea sea monster to be 2). Ye now also select ye STOP LOSS RANGE based on 'tis decision. ye need a STOP LOSS range which keeps ye from big losses, but dont get hit too often. A STOP LOSS means how big 'o a loss ye a prepared to take 'n thar be a relationship between th' STOP LOSS 'n th' volatility 'o a market which always equal ye LIABILITY PER TRADE (1%, 2% or 5% 'o buried treasure, etc..) fer a guide, I use a trailin' 10 tick stop on most horse racin' markets, but that can be moved up to 3 or 5 ticks on stable market. thar be no rules 'bout 'tis, it be ye preference based on ye psychology. Some traders like it loose, some like it tight...scalpers like it extra tight. |
|
By:
So now a practical example.
If ye have a $100 buried treasure 'n ye want to trade on a horse wit' 2.00 odds. ye have a 2% maximum loss settin' 'n ye set ye stop loss at 10 ticks. ye tradin' stake be $25. th' maximum loss ye gunna take be $2.00. |
|
By:
OK. That's all fer this day. Remember, ye have to accept losses...many losses... to be a successful tradin' scurvy pirate. That means ye have to trade small amounts at first 'n build up ye buried treasure. thar's no secret to it.
