Why is there not a keep bet option on the correct score ft markets?
There is an option on the half time market but not the full time market. A right old puzzler innit.

So what you are saying, I think (?) is that people got burned on the FT CS markets, they complained and they got rid very shortly after the keep bet concept was introduced. But because the liquidity on half time markets is poorer there was no knee jerk reaction for that market. Is that right? |

I emailed betfair yesterday for an answer but they haven't replied. What was your theory?

That's not really what I was saying as I hadn't put much thought into it (though that's what I'd normally have been saying if I had thought about it more)

There much bleating when this was introduced, I think about 5 years ago. The problem was that it wasn't trialed on selected markets like the current unmanaged match odds markets. Neither was it very well publicised. Consequently a lot of people did get burned and presumably some of them were influential enough for it to be scrapped.
It was a shame because it was an excellent improvement on what is otherwise a rather turgid market. You only have to experience the Cricket IPL markets to know what a great move forward this would be. |

If I remember correctly, that is basically what happened. The punters who lost money by having their 'keep bet' 1-0 bet hoovered when the score became 0-1, shouted a lot, lot louder than those of us who wanted the 'keep bet' maintained on all markets. There were murmurings of discontent on the forums - indeed I was one of the 'murmurers' - but after a couple of weeks it all died down and we just had to accept that Betfair were not going to change the rules. It might be worth pursuing again when they have their next Q and A session. |

thanks roger. I think it is crazy not to have a keep option, indeed I would trade that market more if the was. As for people getting burned, they have to click a button to make a keep bet so I really don't understand why betfair should be nannying idiots who cannot comprehend the concept of "keep" .
I figured that their existence must have been messing up a bot of a key account player and that is the only rational reason I can figure out for withdrawing the keep option on FT CS markets. |

"I can confirm the reason for there being no keep option in the correct score market is down to customer feedback when betting in that market. Customers where finding their keep bets being matched when the score they had backed was an impossible outcome." |

So they bet on 1-0 and think it's unfair that the score becomes 0-1 ? So why did they do the keep bets in the first place? Could they not just watch the game and decide when 1-0 was a good enough price for them to have a bet? Betfair are inconsistent in their approach to this sort of thing ; Can't bet on Big Brother Evictions in the day or so before nominations aree announced, because some people will know more than others about who is being nominated , but can bet on Football Manager Markets even when some people will know for absolute certain who has been offered the job. |

Keep bets should only apply to the suspension at KO.
Any futher suspensions should clear the board. |

There are lots of ways to make extremely low risk profits (often referred to as 'free money'). Unfortunately the same select group of people are able to exploit these opportunities over and over again.
Most of them involve hoovering and being in the front of the queue at the right time. Occasionally you can get lucky, but by and large I believe it's the same people profiting from this almost all of the time. |
