cheers but I tried that one and it just works from total stake not total liability - might be doing something wrong but that's the way it looks. I want to enter total liability and let that drive everthing else.

Why not just use the lay box on betfair?
Make sure you use "payout" not "liability" and it all turns out just fine. |

I guess if you want liability you do have to calculate one extra step with that, but it's easy enough to estimate the easiest price lay

I can set up a spreadsheet to do it but was just wondering if there was an online tool.
Liability box doesn't help me much cos I still have to calculate the fractional stakes. |

What fractional stakes? You just type the number in the box and it stakes everything for you!

I obviously don't know what you mean here.
The payout button on betfair makes sure all your reds and greens are identical, what do you need on top of that and I'll see if I can dig it up. |

Eg I want to lay odds of 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 to a total liability of £100 (or whatever) so I need to know the fractional stakes of each of the 5 bets. |

sorry .. what I mean is the actual stake of each bet to give a level return for a given liability.
So I need to know for any given liability, the odds to lay for each of the selections that will give me a level return whatever the result. |

If you put up your lays of 7,8,9,10,11 in betfair, then click "payout" and an amount, then you'll get the right ratios.
http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k10/lorinda11/?action=view¤t=dutchlaying2.jpg In that example, I'm laying for 2000 at 4,6,1000 and 5 When I hit "ok", the "what if" panel shows me my reds and greens if i submit the bet you see that the red next to the four players I'm laying is 764.67. If you wanted that to be 100, you'd just divide the original 2000 by 7.6467 and put that number into the payout box instead of 2000. It's still a little long winded but it's taken everything but one calculation out for you, and with practise you'll guess near enough anyway (you can see without adding up that 7,8,9,10,11 is "about" evens, so you'd lay for 200 and see how it looked. (In the 7,8,9,10,11 case paying out 200 actually goes 86 red and 114 green, so you could add a little to your payout manually, calculate 200/0.86, or simply only bet 86 on the event) |

Thanks Hayden, had a quick look at that but couldn't see at a glance whether it would help (but I am a bit bleary from too much poker) It's really just for calculating my lay bets because I dutch 5 or 6 on a market. Lori has sorted me out tho. Cheers

Ta You do exactly the same thing with the oddchecker dutching calc but you are looking for results with a minus sign in front of them. Why change, just get your head around -s. |

beetle, I thought I had something from the past and I've dug it out. Just a spreadsheet but it does what you want - I think. Enter the lay liability that is common to all runners i.e. whichever one wins, you would lose the same amount. It calculates your total and individual stakes for you.
Still have to enter the prices of your lays and enter your bets manually but there's no calculation to do. Let me know if you want it. |

Am i missing something? I dont get the box that lori talks about. If i click payout it just adds my stake to the liability?
