I got a quote of a well known Insurance branch for just over 300. I was pricing around and rang up a small independent brooker who matched the price and said they would take it on through the larger company. How does the small company make money, commision?

Indeed they do, typically 10% for car and 15% for house insurance! thats why theres all these Direct companies out there, no middlemen, = increased profits!
