General Betting

I have been with Betfair for over 7 years and thought I knew everything I needed. However something happening on Sunday in an Irish NH race that made me think. The 4 remaining runners approached the final fence, one fell on landing and hampered another sufficiently to unseat the rider after jumping the fence. This jockey landed on his feet still holding the reins. He remounted and trotted in for 3 place prize money in a race where 3rd counted as a place under Betfair market rules. Under GB rules of racing the horse would have been disqualified but under Irish rules it was awarded 3rd place.
Consider two hypothetical betfair customers playing the in-running place market. One who thought that the horse would be disqualified and layed 1000 to hoover up all the Backed bids. Another who knew the rules and backed it at 1.01 to hoover up all the Lay bids. At some point they would match each other but at which odds?
From my knowledge, the slowest to react would get the opponents generous odds. Is this correct?
