Check the size of your bets in "my bets" section :|

Sounds like you laid twice?
Report mobo March 7, 2010 9:51 PM GMT
thanks lori but checked
my screen went green on all scores i wouldn't leave a bet open like that and i even posted a message to that effect on the forum
weird
Report Lori March 7, 2010 9:52 PM GMT
You saying the bets in your account add up to a win and yet you lost? If so, email betfair about it.
Report mobo March 7, 2010 9:55 PM GMT
hi again lori i have contacted them
my screen was all green
i only went in and out for a quick 20 min trade if that and was green on all scores
it doesnt make sense i am sure they will come back with 'we have the record etc ' next time i will take a photo of every screen shot
never happened to me before
all the best
Report Lori March 7, 2010 10:01 PM GMT
Ignore what colour your screen was and just check the bets. It could be that the P+L think froze after you laid the first one and you laid again, the interface is pretty poor at times.

If the bets add up to a loss then you've got no case really, if they add up to a win, then you'll get refunded if you've not made a mistake with your sums.

It should be very clear in your account statement what occured though.
Report mobo March 7, 2010 10:12 PM GMT
thanks lori if that is the case then i will photo every winning/losing shot but 200 quid isn't to be sneezed at
all the best

I tried google chrome the other day and it was giving me incorrect figures regarding how much I would win or lose. At least before I actually placed the bets. So immediately went back to firefox.

So don't trust those figures. Go to your account, betting profit and loss, and click on the match and look to see how much you won and lost on each score.
Report catfloppo March 8, 2010 6:20 AM GMT
It doesn't really mean much to photo or copy the screen because you can't demonstrate that you had no bets after.

Do what Lori says, you may find you had a bet you had forgotten about matched right at the last monents of the market.
Report johnizere March 8, 2010 6:44 AM GMT
Strangely enough, I was on google chrome the other day, and using the 'what if' feature, and some really weird figures were coming up. Firefox was ok though.
Report johnizere March 8, 2010 6:47 AM GMT
Chrome no good anyway, unable to crank up the refresh rate like F/fox, unless anybody knows different?
Report SHAPESHIFTER March 8, 2010 10:46 AM GMT
mobo,

a) follow Lori's advice. Go audit your bets that night.

b) Even if "all green" shows, it is always worth refreshing before logging off or closing to avoid unpleasant surprises.

"has anyone had a completely greended out screen and still lost"

Yes. I have.

It was on the horses, went to bed all green. Then after some late withdrawals and dodgy reduction factors, all green became all red.
Report beetle March 8, 2010 11:52 AM GMT
If this was on correct scores, my guess is that you had forgotten to cancel a back bet which was subsequently matched as the game moved into the later stages.
Report Trevh March 8, 2010 12:51 PM GMT
There was some strange API activity at around that time last night, the odds in the Benfica match were jumping up and down (literally, not price movements) with matched bets disappearing and reappearing.

Also, out of habit the last thing I do before closing any market is press the 'cancel all bets' button, which protects against occasional forgetfulness if you're trying to follow half a dozen or more markets.

happended to my goodself a few months ago and i couldnt for the life of me figure out what happended. It turned out i had layed twice but only because of some weird glitch in the website where by the 1st lay order was placed and matched however the screen never showed the green nor the bet as being placed. Not until the markets wouldnt load properly and the site had a spaz attack did i log out, clear the cache on laptop, log back in and see the mess i was in.

I only figured out wtf was going on when a few weeks later same thing happened again but this time i spotted it and seen the 1st lay was place but never showed up.
Report The Investor March 8, 2010 2:36 PM GMT
I haven't had this problem, but have frequently encountered another tech glitch that has cost me hundreds over the years.

It involves prices not updating in the total goals market after a goal is scored and the market is suspended. The market reopens and all the old prices are still visible. If you missed the suspend, you wouldn't have a clue a goal had been scored and bet accordingly.

I had a very healthy all green on the Honda Classic, thanks to having a bundle,
on Vijay, at 95s.

What I had trouble understanding, was a loss on day 3, until I realised that a number of
competitors were excluded, as they didn't make the cut!
Report mobo March 10, 2010 1:21 PM GMT
so it has happened then
i know I am not the cleverest but my screen was all green
no outstanding bets or anything but get no joy from betfair
because I guess everybody would be on it as a con
the 200 on 6s on correct score was definitely placed
and i greened out at 4.6 or something and a bit more at 3.9
leaving me in profit on all scores
i do this dozens of times a day and have done today on several games
ok so it was only 200 quid

but theres no comeback from betfair just my hard luck
tough ti..ie mo
it just means 3 less bottles of bollinger this month

has anyone had a completely greended out screen and still lost

I did this when I first started. I adjusted my stake using "whatif " until there was an equal green book. On seeing the green, I think logged off without actually completing the process.
Not suggesting that you did this Mobo, Just replying to thread title question.
Report mobo March 12, 2010 9:43 AM GMT
eddie i did it days ago thanks and contacted betfair hq but got nowhere as expected

the nearest thing i can make out is what was said about interface.

i had placed a bet of 200 on 6s for 1 0
it didnt show up on my screen
all the other 6s bets went through and i subsequently got out at 4.8 and 3.9
all green

i then went off to another bet and didn't come back
i guess it must have then been implemented after and was left !!!
so I should have come back but a closed green bet is a closed green bet and i do this many times a day, in lots of markets and quickly - I just hope it never happens when i have really big liability on something!!!!
Obviously the motto is check, double check, and check again!!!
all the best
thanks for the comments
Report tanstaafl March 12, 2010 9:55 AM GMT
You probably left other bets open and forgot about them but they were matched later.
Report buzzer March 12, 2010 10:33 AM GMT
that would show in your betting history though
Report DirtyCashMoney March 12, 2010 10:48 AM GMT
Yep, it happens when part of your bet doesn't match, and you think that it has

Sort of...

A few years ago, had traded a Pakistan v India limited overs (50?) cricket match, so that I had £45-ish to collect no matter which team won.

You couldn't bet on the tie in this game.

Went out for a curry (ironic, eh) comfortable in the thought of most of the meal being paid for by my cricket bet.

Got home to discover the match ended in a tie (no bowl out, just equal total scores).

All bets void and refunded!
Report Aussie Al March 14, 2010 12:14 AM GMT
It happens on top run scorer in cricket matches. You can lay all options and have an all green screen. However, bets on players who do not play are refunded and you can go from all green to all red.
