General Betting

I'm starting another Thread with a new idea.I have had several attempts at different ways of building up a bank & failed.This doesn't really hurt me to much as I am not losing a great deal & I am learning quite alot along the way.
I am convinced that it is easily possible given that you must be 100% disciplined in the excecution of it.That unfortunately is the big if & where 99% of us all fall foul.
I'll give you a scenario.I work self employed doing Taxi Work.I work through another company & I have 2 cars with them.If I go out & do some normal cabbying I just turn the data-head on & I get jobs etc.This is great in theory as you can come & go as you please.It's great because you can pick the busy times & log off when the footballs on or when ever you like.The other side is that I do Airports with my other car.This is a phone call at 6pm & get my jobs for the next day.In this situation I basically get my orders etc.
It doesn't matter how many Airports they give me,I havn't turned 1 down for years,Sometimes I can have 3 or 4 in 1 day,absolutely no problem,I can graft away forever.Now the other car,which is 9 months old has now become my Girlfriends runnaround because in the time I have had it,it hasn't done a single one normal Taxi job,not one.I'm paying treble insurance for private hire & although it does do Airports which cover it's costs etc.
My point in all of this is that I can take the Airports in my stride because I have too,the normal taxi work I can do or not do.The choice is mine.
The problem I have been having with this Challenge is that I havn't been setting out a really strict & conclusive set of rules.Any rules that I have set have been followed,but there hasn't been a proper set to follow.For example I have been making the odds bigger at the start just to get the bank up as quick as possible.Well that dooms me straight away.I have just done these figures for example & obviously there abit pie in the sky.It does show that with patience the big figures can be achieved relatively quickly.

I'm going to sort this out today,one way or another.In the mean time I've just placed this bet with 365 to possibly get me up & running.
This was put on without the rules in place but if it fails then I'll just start again under orders. 1/Start Bank=£20-00.
2/Bet All Betting Bank. 3/Then Reserve 50% of profit in Reserve Bank. 4/The selections must be within 20% of evens(I.E. 1.8-2.2) 5/The bet can be a single, multi,win or lay. 6/When a losing bet occurs,Take the losing stake amount from reserve bank & carry on the same. 7/If you lose the whole Reserve,then go back to the beginning & start again. 8/Any extra returns from slightly over the odds,to be put in the reserve bank. Any new idea's for extra rules can be added whenever. This is not a get rich & become a Pro punter challenge,it's just a new type of having a bet for me.Which hopefully will teach me a little more self discipline.Just a lttle is my goal.I'd settle for that.I'm a gambler,not a mathematition or serious form reader. Anyone who want's to join in or comment are welcome.But as I said this is just for fun & not to be taken to seriously.Please remember Betfair isn't just about pro gamblers earning a crust,it's also for normal folk like myself having some fun punting etc. |

the bit I don't understand is you say its just for fun yet have all this rules. Surely if you are betting for "fun" you would not be worried about reserve banks, price range etc?

I've been betting for 30 years & this approach is new to me & on that basis I find it great fun.You'll most probably see by my betting patterns that I aren't to serious about this.also 99% certain to fail.
You can pick up a few idea's on here & recording stuff also helps. |

I lost 4 big bets for over £500-00,Layed Man City as Chelsea had nearly 2 seasons unbeaten at Stamford,Picked 8 short prices on Sunday,couldn't get logged on,so I went to ladbrokes,one team was 1.1 in shop when 1.2 on-line so I swapped it for Juventus which promptly killed my £100-00 acca.The other team won 3-0.Sulked mostly on Monday & then Germany U21's 2-1 up & perfectly good goal dissallowed drew 2-2,costing me £200 + £450-00 in 2 acca's.Having checked for dead black cats in the village etc,I'm ready to go again,as I'm working most of the day I have broken all my rules & it's on the theory that my challenge hasn't started yet as I havn't had a winner yet.I know that's stretching the whole basis,but I seem to have more luck at the moment with bigger odds bets.So I promise that if this wins I will start complying with my rules.I have mentioned earlier that I was a little undisciplined.
