I live in Britain and If I refresh the prices on an Austraian Event using the Betfair site, it refreshes in little less than a second, but refreshing of prices through API takes 2-3 seconds. Does anyone out there know the reason why ? Thanks in advance

posts are generally slower than gets.

the website retrieves data using a get, the API always posts

also, when you say refresh a market, you presumably mean refresh the prices and your P&L on that market.

that's two operations via the API, but only one via the website.

Not quite sure what you mean. I am quite experienced at writing API bots now for my personal use only and there must be a way of refreshing or placing bets at the the speed of main Betfair site, otherwise why would anybody put themselves at a disadvantage from Britain. I have only recently started to look at doing AUS markets but until I find an answer to this discrepency I 'aint risking a penny !!

HTTP GET from the uk takes 400msecs to aus markets, POST take twice that
