Not that sure on how to manage all this.
Backed Ian Poulter to win WGC matchplay 29/1
Layed him after first round. Current status is that if he wins I lose 3:22 (red) and if he loses I win 1.82 (green)

Current prices are IP 2:04/2:06

I figure I need toback IP but not sure of the maths

Any help appreciated

- Click "More options" which is just below the refresh button on the market.
- Make sure "Display what if figure" is ticked.
- Type in some bets as if you were going to place them, but don't actually place them, the arrows will show you what your position would be if you did place them.

You're not going to be able to go all green at the moment

Your level position is going to be -£0.65 which is achieved by betting £2.47 at 2.04 (3.22+1.82)/2.04

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain that Lori. I am only playing with small figures at the moment and I normally do singles with no hedging.

Regards

Yep here again. I have seen a few of the calculators but I was a bit confused because I have 2 bets running one at 29/1 backing IP and one at 22/1 laying him, which is where the end result figures come from. The 'what if' scenario is what I was missing. That helps a lot.

Is there a book that helps explain the math involved in Betfair and similar sites. I am reasonably intelligent (degree educated, IT specialist) but maths is not my strongest point.

Johnnybike,

I think you could probably benefit from studying this book:
