Those bets were available 30 years ago anyway

No doubt they were...but I weren't around to place 'em. That's the point!

The Liverpool bets wouldn't have been available.

Arsenal to defeat the then mighty liverpool side of 1989 by two goals or more to take the league championship on the last day of the season and deny Liverpool another title. I think in that entire season Liverpool had hardly, if ever, been defeated by two clear stikes.

Liverpool had not lost by 2 at home since March 1986

Used to be able to get amazing prices on the outsider of three at test matches, also people who were behind in golf tourneys.
Sadly some of us were around to place them :| |

Think you used to get starred matches on premiership tobes, or was that only late 80s onwards?

the 'hole in one scam' a while back - bookies didnt realise how often these happened in tournaments and would offer ridiculously high odds on one happening ;-)

lay the team against mourinho in every league game

Oh yeah the starred matches :)
Those were on Live TV Games and Cup Games only .In the 70s there were hardly any games Live so it may have been no singles at all. Don't know though as only started bettin in 1988 .Was amazed first day of 88/89 season to find you could not do singles :0 Wanted all my money on Arsenal away to Wimbeldon @6/4 or so , had to do loads of correct scores instead ( 2-0, 3-0 , 3-1 etc ) they won 5-1 ffs. The Bookies always maintained it was Football League restrictions that made the rule necessary, but i seem to recall when it was finally allowed to bet singles a League spokesman saying they had never had a problem with it, and it was always up to the bookies (who presumably just wanted mug acca punters). |
