Why can't you say you've been gambling for a living?
|
|
By:
I had this exact issue in the early 90s fwiw and although there were 15 or so years of complications, most of which I'm not willing to post here, when I was asked what I did, there was never any real objection to the gambling thing.

i just started paying them back, pretty impossible to prove anything when making your money this way. mine were on the old system where you could defer if your income was below a certain amount
|

Oh, and they're**bags. If you're over the income threshhold you signed to, then pay them, if you're not, then fight for every single penny because you're entitled to an inflation linked loan until you cross that line (or at least that's how it used to work)

I don't think Gambling winners are classes as a income so you can just tell them you won some money and they can't touch it. I won 60k on a bet last year, and not paid a penny of my loan back.

I put that my Mrs supports me. She signs a letter saying such like and no problem. Before that, my Dad did the same thing and no problem there either.

Congrats again on the win Didley!!!
Being nosey Onions....what did you win £60k on? |
|

Got some insane placepot last year for a tenner.
I wont lie, I had a spare £10 in my betfair so I clicked random numbers, went to work (coral) and learnt I was somehow still in with 1 leg to go. Loved it. |

basically I got done over when I filled out a selfassesment, I was hoping to get my six years of not making a payment then the debt is not enforcable, but they made a payment of £0.00 on my behalf, obv when they come to collect I will contest it.
But they worded the letter in a way that if I have a issue I should say or they will take it that I intend on making repayments when my taxable income goes above the threshold. |

They'll have to find me before they get a cent!

It's a god job some of us repay our debts, or you lot wouldn't be able to have loans in the first place.
|
|
By:
trev that is not the point.
i do pay my debts. and i will pay this one eventually. I'm not obliged to pay back any more until i am earning again. when i have a job i will pay it back. |
|
By:
Get a job. Pay them back. Grow up.
