Can anyone give an explanation as to roughly how bf calculates their starting price ?

The underlying question I'm trying to answer is: if for example I place a large amount as a normal lay bet but set it to take SP at the off, how does that one bet affect the eventual SP (up or down) ?

Thanks.

all depends how much is waiting
another eg - Remember when TWIST MAGIC stole an early lead in the tingle creek BSP was 3.05 while ISP was 9/4
Fast pic boys battered it just after the off while we were SUSPENDED and hence the price

There is some information about the SP available in the help section (see below). If this doesn't satisfy your enquiry then you may be able obtain a satisfactory response quicker on the Horse Racing forum.

Thanks guys.

I have managed to get example 2 from

modelled in excel, and I now have a much better understanding of what happens.

Apparently the expert on BSP is Horsetrader
