Betfair and ATR were blocked (strangely RP was ok) when in Rome last September, but since I was staying in guest rooms run by a convent I assumed they had something to do with it

Betfair is officialy prohibited here in Italy, as all the other bookmaker .com.
Anyway we have alternative links to get the Betfair and other bookmakers.com websites. No problems at all |

Do Betfair not have an Italian site???????
https://www.betfair.it |
|
By:
No, Betfair.it is totally different from Betfair.com.
Betfair.it is a normal italian bookmaker like all the other .it |

Bloody hell, that's well cheeky, they've even copied the logos, are they allowed to do that? :0 :0

Micky1 - Does that apply for all countries where Betfair is banned?
|
|
By:
I couldnt be certain Kev but I would think it does as I think the address had the word global in it. I dont have the address anymore as it was stored on a different computer in Italy.

Hi Micky.
Betfair told me there is no way around betting in banned countries. They even said if they suspect you're betting on the phone from a banned country they'll ask you to prove you're not in a banned country. I think I read somewhere they'll phone your home landline. Does anyone know how easy or difficult it is to access Betfair via a Proxy website? I tried this in my last place of work but had no joy. |

When i was in Rome in 2008 the Euro Championship was on.
Fancied a few bets so went to an Internet Cafe only to find i couldn't access Betfair (or any other bookie i have an account with), got round it by ringing a mate and getting him to put the bets on for me. Watching the games on Italian TV i was curious as to why there were constant adverts for a particular bookie (can't remember which one, bloody Alzheimers!) if you can't access any of them. Went to the Internet Cafe again and tried to access this particular company (it was a .com NOT .it) and lo and behold...straight in!! Obviously (allegedly!) someone has taken a nice backhander to allow access to this one firm!! Got to love good old Italian Corruption! lol |

And for courtsiders that are faster than raw pics from New York (us open) Cincinnati Indian Wells etc Betfair what is doin, calling everybody? They arent doing nothing for sure, because they have direct interests. |

It doesn't answer my question though.....
Is it possible to access Betfair through a Proxy from a banned country? |
|
By:
There are definately ways around it, others have done it, even from places like America. I've seen threads on the betangel and a geekstoy forums about how to do it so have a look there :)
