Please could somebody help me out with a question regarding the horse place markets

For Flat Handicaps only do Betfair keep rigidly to the number of places paid out in the place market according to the number of runners?

eg
Number of Runners = 5 to 7 ... Places paid = 2
Number of Runners = 8+ ... Places paid = 3

Thanks.

I suppose what I meant to say was, how many places are paid out for what number of runners?

Place terms on here correspond to declared runners in a race, unlike bookies where if you have a non-runner for example in a 16 horse handicap, the place terms are altered.

E.g. 4 places will be paid on here even if only 12 horses out of 16 declared actually run, whereas with a bookie you'd only be paid 3 places.

Other than that, betfair will offer place markets for races where there are 3 or 4 runners, unlike the bookies. In such markets 2 places are paid.

Otherwise place terms are industry standard on betfair.

If a non runner comes through after declaration but before the market is formed then it will affect the place terms, but once the market is formed the place terms are not changed.

Just check under the Rules section near "my Bets" selections and it will tell you the pay places.
