The first reason the answer is no is commission
|

second reason is that ticks have different values at different places.

60-40 should take care of commission ?
4.0 into 3.0 bad trade,then 6.0 to 7.0 good trade.....is this break even over the two trades ? |

I'll use the "what if" to work that last one out.

Tame your answer is YES

If you are greening up on your trade it depends whether you are backing to lay or visa versa. The former is more profitable, pro rata than the latter.

If you are greening up on your trade it depends whether you are backing to lay or visa versa. The former is more profitable, pro rata than the latter. Provided it's trading above evens. However, I lay first well over half of the time, as often the traders trying to make a lot using a little push the price down below what I perceive is correct. |

I'm solely a layer, taking a position pre-off.I've only recently started recording the prices at the start of the event, and have found that 70%(so far) have drifted .I'm just wondering how best to play this.

If you are backing to lay you are always greening up at a lower price than laying to back
