Am thinking of switching to the new Santdander Zero account...but before I do; does anybody know if there are any problems regarding this banking group and gamblers? Some banks and gambling don't mix - they don't like like lumpy transfers in and out of the account and accuse you of being a money launderer as soon as you hit the withdraw/deposit button to a betting exchange or walk into the branch with fifty quid. Do any forumites have experience/horror stories or any of its subsidiaries such as Alliance & Leicester, Bradford & Bingley and Abbey?

In addition, any other views on the best banks for gamblers? Heard a few horror stories with Lloyds closing accounts, HSBC also rumoured to be a a nightmare in this area.

Most banks with American connections also over react to gambling activity, obviously due the the hostile US attitude to banks and gambling. Any other advice from forumites on which banks are welcoming to high turnover punters, and which treat gamblers like criminals?

All advice and feedback much appreciated...

Used Abbey for a couple of years now and never had a problem until last week.Tried to deposit funds and was rejected all the time. After the usual hour trying to get through to them I had to into the branch with ID to sort the problem.A pain to say the least and no explanation was given.Previously used Halifax and never had a problem but as you say banks seem to be changing regards gambling.

Never had a problem with Natwest, and i've done some very large amounts. The first transaction you get a phone call asking about it, but once it's clarified it's ok.

First direct. No problem in 15 years, despite constantly erratic income and lots of gambling.
