Ive only been using this forum for about 2 weeks and ive found alot of interesting and helpfull points that some people have made ive also found that there are alot of people on here that talk rubbish and dont even do there maths properly. I have been preveiously know as a mug punter who chases my money and i wanted to use this forum to correct my mistakes and maybe get a good and usefull system going. I had'nt had a bet for 6 months before christmas and in that time i done plenty of homework and reed about a million books and practiced 4 or 5 systems which ive now narrowed down to 1. I apologise for my spelling and if i sound like a grumpy old man but there are alot of time wasters on here. Any advice would be appreciated.thank you and happy new year

Practising systems is no good. You don't know whether it works or not until you get real money involved.

Thats a fair point vis but if id have tried some of the systems i did with money i would have gone againist everything i said to my self.I wanted to get my confidence back and i still made some mistakes but they just didnt cost me anything im gambling with real money now but at small stacks. I just dont want to keep going round in circles with my gambling not that i want to make a living out of it. But i think ive got quite a good system going now and if i patient i could make it work in a small way. Thank you

I remember you posted on my thread What works on betfair. You mentioned following the prices and laying drifters. How is it going for you. I started writing down the early prices from Ladbrokes and laying some drifters. It def takes time to get a feel for it but certainly seems to leading to profits. If you would rather not post and leave an e-mail address to discuss furthur please do.

For me I believe there are three elements that you must have in place for this to work:

1) You must have an edge. If you've proved on paper that you got something that works then good stick to that.

2) Manage your money. You must stick to sensible stakes in relation to your bank for both backing and laying.

3) Manage yourself. You must stay cool and in control. Make all betting decisions before you start. If you have a bad beat and then start working out your next bet it is inevitable that you won't be concentrating with a clear mind. This leads to further losers etc etc. Decide what you are going to do before you start betting and stick to your initial decisions unless something happens that means you shouldn't bet at all. Don't be swappoing selections half way through. Just don't bet.
