Sorry if this has already been asked a million times on here over the years, but can anyone please confirm which EUROPEAN countries it is not possible to LEGALLY access Betfair from? Not including the eastern European nations.

I've heard France is a no-go, but Spain is OK?

Cheers for the help.

You can't in italy. You need to change the dns server of your internet connection (OpenDNS, DNS Advantage).
Report brendanuk1 December 16, 2009 9:46 PM GMT
Finland is ok as above

Thanks for replies. That's good news about France, if it's true. I had the impression that the French authorities blocked access to Betfair from their country.

Me and the missus are thinking seriously about moving to France, Spain or possibly Greece. Obviously I wouldn't want to go anywhere where it was impossible to access Betfair.

Finland and Estonia are both fine

I'll tell you what has surprised me. I've just travelled over to the Philippines, and I'm currently logged in from there.

And yes, I do realise that's not a part of Europe!

.

We've had no problems getting on to Betfair from France - internet cafes, prviate connections etc. all worked great :)

You can get on from Scunthorpe or so I have heard. I don't think anyone has tried it though.

flatliner,

Northern Cyprus is NOT OK as it is treated as part of Turkey. Southern Cyprus is OK.

In Italy I used 222 or 111.betfair.com after www when I was there last year.

Another solution is creating your own website and putting on a few PHP scripts that use the free Betfair API. That way you would have your own stripped-down lightweight version of Betfair, accessible wherever you go in the world, invisible to controls and perfectly working on your mobile phone too.

I can help if interested (but my scripts work well only for GBP accounts)...
