Bought all the components for just over £1k, make sure you don't get ripped off as a lot of companies that build 'trading computers' charge you more than double the cost of the individual components used.

I used to use a T3D, then went on to the T3E.
Finally settled with a NEC SX7.

No matter what you have though, it doesn't change the fact that the output is only as ever as good as the input.
Rubbish in, rubbish out.
Just comes out quicker sometimes.

Do you in fact have equally powerful trading skills and ideas to complement it all ?

i had a go at trading a while back with a standrd laptop and basic broadband did not to bad win some loose some, didnt make a mint but more importaintly i didnt loose a mint,i just think with the right equipment i could do quite well the thing that botherd me when i did do it the speed at which the price moved by the time i clicked and my order was sent the price was no longer avaliable so thats why i want the best setup poss,im not going to say its def going to work but atleast if i have the best tools for the job i can give it a go

You're right there.
It certainly can't do you any harm, as long as it doesn't get you into trades that in the past you inadvertently missed out on to your net benefit.
Have a close look at your past trading results and make sure that you would have actually done any better with more powerful computer equipment.

I'm a recreational punter only.

But I am a serious investor in other money markets, and the same basic rules apply.
Know where you actually make your money and why.

The six screens are to display different markets simultaneously.
My normal way of viewing will be to have six markets on display for a football game (match odds, correct score over/unders etc.) and have different tabs in the browser for different games (using the web interface through firefox).

The 8GB memory is necessary because I sometimes have up to a dozen pages open on each screen and firefox eats up memory like crazy. it doesn't support quad-core either, although the next version should.

Investor, I concur with Betfairy.

The old fashioned solid state plugs (PS2, I think) are hard wired and have quicker response times, likewise for a balled mouse. I'm told that they are a must for hardcore gamers.

Added bonus is the batteries don't pack in when you've just put up 500 quid to make 2%.

iam just about 2 splash out on the best available what do i need for the fastest set up.

obviously i need fast broadband fast router but what on my computer do i need the most, im getting one custom built.
