cwithys0ccer - had a quick look at article , and it appears to be biased against KELLY calculations.
The key is being as accurate as possible re , not only the odds, but choosing the horse which you believe has best chance to win at value odds. Of course if you believe the 5-4 shot is a 50% chance of winning in example shown, then, provided your TRUE ODDS are as accurate as possible.....then if you have an edge in betting you will win at value odds 50% of time on true 50% shots. If you are poor at selecting the right horse with a chance to win, and also poor at estimating "accurate odds", then you will lose................................., but you would lose probably your bank if you did not use Kelly etc.It all depends on whether you have an edge and whether you can be as close to so called "accurate" probability of horse's chance to win.... |
