She cant lose wee mac. She must catch me a few times a day. Got 2p matched @1.24 earlier... returns = zero.
By:
how does it happen?
By:
Well bizarely I got 2p matched, except I had 2p green and no liability not sure how that works though ?!?

Made the papers a while back... some woman making a living out of it. If you lay for 2p @ less than 1.5 the downside is less than 1p so counts as zero. So if you win you get your 2p back (but no winnings) and if you lose she gets your 2p.
Plenty of beaten horses trading on the IR horses place market @ under 1.5. |

Report it to BF and they will take action agains the person doing it.
By:
Mmhh, that's given me an idea.....
By:
wasn't it 1p.... ? :O
By:
LoL, why would they take action?
By:
Don't see how you could make enough to get a living out of it.
By:
Surely would have to be for 1p?

It's 2p (not 1p) because a lay of 2p at less than 1.5 gives you a liability of less than a penny.
If you make 2p on about half of all events that you play on and you can find 1000 events a day to bet on you can expect the colossal sum of £10 a day. Hardly a living. I'm not normally one for objecting to how other people play, but this is just so shockingly lame that it even annoys me. |
By:
guys it does NOT work! try to lay two selections at 1.5 for 1p you'll notice that 0.01 is taken from your bank. betfair DO calculate these pennies

brought another thread about 1p layer to the top

I was laying a dog yesterday at 5.6 for £15...I got 1p matched at that price....I'm struggling to understand the angle here. Why would they only BET 1p and is there some very very small advantage to them....can;t get it round my head..

If you make 2p on about half of all events that you play on and you can find 1000 events a day to bet on you can expect the colossal sum of £10 a day. Hardly a living. Carried out on 10 different accounts by the same person equates to 36k per annum. |
By:
100 accounts thats 360k, 1000 accounts £3,600,000, must be a team doing it, it will be for sale on ebay shortly
By:
Are there really people out there who've got 10 accounts, the IT infrastructure to run them and the ability to automate your betting and yet the BEST thing they can think of to do with it is put in ridiculous £10 a day strategies?
The answer is no, this is not done by international syndicates of criminal masteminds. It's done by tight @rsed ponces who cut the stems off broccoli before they get to the super market checkout and keep the same poppy to wear every year. |

I remember receiving an e-mail some time ago regarding this and that your account would be suspeneded if you constantly used the 'sub £2' trick. All the api programmers had to correct the bots they sold so there was no longer an option for this on their applications. Then a few months later they released versions that could perform this action but only when trading out of positions.
I use Bet Angel and I've noticed it will place sub £2 lays if needed like when bookmaking (laying the massively priced outsiders). Why don't they just prevent anyone from doing this whether it's on the Betfair interface or using api programs. |

It all adds to the liquidity, well a raindrop anyway.
By:
you could lay a 1.06 for a whopping 8p for no liability!
Also, does anybody know why the price increments on the exchange games are different, on the sports markets from 3.0 it has increments of 0.05 but on the games it's ony 0.02 |
