im not liking the new format at all.
each to their ownThere is no jeopardy in the games for the big clubs.
There never was in the old group stagesPSG V Barca should be mouth watering, but its nothing more than an exhibition game
No huge club likes to lose to their rivalsold system was 6 group games and need to finish top 2 out of 4. New system is 8 games and need to finish top 24 out of 36.
The players are on 100K+ a week. They wont mind losing the odd game one bit.im a fan of the new format ...old was random nonsense i'm afraid ... people want the big clubs to go through in reality ...hardly anyone would watch a Slavia Prague vs Levski Sofia final . No one is interested in the qualifying stages as it is ...and they contain actual champions .Under the old format none of the teams in Pot 1 played each other or competed against each other in the group stage. Now they all play 2 other Pot 1 teams each and compete for top 8 places in the group.
We had Real v Inter and City v PSG in the first 2 game weeks, now PSG v Barca and Bayern v Arsenal, the top 4 favs playing each other. You wouldn't get fixtures like that until the KO stages under the old format.
There was no real jeopardy for the Pot 1 sides under the old format either. The main difference is that the EL is now a joke compared to what it used to be, with 4 top EL level sides going into the CL and 8 3rd placed CL sides not going into the EL.Top teams don't want to finish top 4, they want top 8 to avoid the 2 extra play off games, so the new format is much better.
Having said that, Liverpool and City tonight imo are taking real liberties, no Haaland and no Isak and Barcola.Top teams don't want to finish top 4
don't want to finish in the top 24 !!should be on cue for the highest scoring CL match of all time ....this could be 6-4 4-6 7-5 ... new balls pleasestruggling to find value tonight. Man City too short, but will probably win. Liverpool still don't look convincing. Overs far too short on PSG-Barca game. Put a few bob on 5-3 PSG.you'll get a run for your moneyit will be carnage for goals
hope so, I'm expecting over 5.5, but not worth it at 3.75.I'm also expecting lots of goals...but seeing how these things work out, just chucked 2 quid on 0 0 at 60...
Never seen 0 0 that high beforeActually, just remembered 0 0 in the opening world cup game for Spain this year against Cape Verde ...0 0 was 100 plus...and obligedFrench singing to tune of Yellow Submarine...what's that about?said Liverpool were taking liberties with their team sheet, now 0-2 down against an average Villerreal teamGordon done nothing wrong, apart from should have scored
He's going for the ball, PSG defender head down lowthey got off to a late start ...but a decent run all the same in the end ... 4-2 was around 26/1 i think on correct score 2 going by memoryso many scorelines it could have been ...2-2 or 3-2 must have been the favourite at the start loltwo 4-3's and a 4-2, plus a 5-1. Schoolboy defending.its like the last couple of weeks of the season. Alot of games with nothing riding on them finish as cricket scores. Stoke beat Liverpool 6-1 in an end of season game.more of the same tomorrow, probably, already on R Madrid -2 at 2.5, saw them at the weekend they were very positive.Bayern v Arsenal is the glamour tie, but both can afford to lose, so no real jeapardy. There's hardly any Premier League side with the attacking quality of Bayern, Olise, Kane, Diaz. Kompany doesnt like defending as a manager which is strange given he was a defender, but he sacrifices solid defending to try and outscore the opposition as we saw with the PSG game last season, you can only therefore see both teams scoring, as it's at Bayern it feels like either a 3-2 Bayern win or maybe 2-2, cannot see Arsenal winning.no, I don't think they'll win, but could score 2 or 3 and still lose.
