Some long hikes in Paddington when we went to see the bear this year, but can't think if we walked to another station.

no not New Cross, it's north of the river, but central London

seems to be an ungoogable answer as well as I googled it and it didn't give the answer, I know the answer as I've walked it

It's no Bank as said in the OP, Bank's excluded as it has underground walkways to Monument.

It's an over ground walk between two stations that are just over half a mile apart.

Finsbury Park and Highgate is North London.

Waterloo and Southwark

That's the same as bank, it has underground walkway connections, they're excluded.

It's a normal outdoor walk.

Should also have said that Waterloo and Southwark are actually South East Stations (SE postcodes), the answer is two stations that have two central London postcodes, i.e EC or WC.

that is actually true, but they're basically connected stations

The answer is.....Barbican to Moorgate station, and vice versa.

They are roughly 0.6 miles apart, 15 minute walk or so, on completely different lines, but you can walk from station to station without crossing a single road thanks to the huge sprawling Barbican estate sandwiched in between them as you can walk along all the walkways raised above street level along the estate, or pedways as they're called. It's not an ordinary estate, full of wealthy middle classes, looks like a concrete jungle, it was also voted London's ugliest building in 2003 I only knew this when trying to find my way to the London Museum years ago, which is on the periphery of the estate, or was. But it's not really that ugly on the inside, the concrete looks high quality, it's spotless and has a stream running through it.

Apparently, George Best at some point in time or another, lived there, as did Arthur Scargill who tried to buy his flat using Thatcher's  Right to Buy scheme couldn't make it up.
