As ever a brutally hard league to make money out of so i thought id start this thread to see if anyone has useful info to help each other out.

West ham will be very populat at 7/4 to win it having retained a decent manager and some prem League quality players. They could well romp it but its tough and 7/4 is short in anyones book.

Fellow relegated teams Wolves and Burnley have new managers and new squads so im leaving them for the time being.

The team that for me has gone under the radar is MILLWALL. They missed automatic promotion by a point last season and had the highest win record both home and away. $0 plus on here is crazy so ibe had a bit of that and backed them in Promotion and top six markets.

Others who finished well last year are Norwich and Southampton (4 pt deduction) but i reckon they should go well again and are worth a go at current prices .

In terms of first games Ive had a small dip on the above to get the season off to a winning start.

Any views?

Hi Dragon sensible comments as always As every season proves ie Hull last season a team no one considers is up there this year I wish to put forward is WBA got 10,s from a greyhound bookie round the poker table for top 8 finish him being Wolves  fan probable helped good luck with your selections but laying Norwich on Saturday
Report The Dragon August 13, 2026 7:01 PM BST
Hey stocks - shoved a few quid on top 8 for WBA so good luck to us both.

I was looking at last years final table and form lines for the teams that have remained in the div. A stark figure that hit me was the difference between BRUM;s home and away form . At home very solid and the second best in the league- away form totally different with only WBA having a worse away record.

Its something ill keep my eye on as the season gets going to see if the trend continues.

well it was a great start for both Millwall and WBA- vwd stocks great shout. Very happy with my Millwall punt.

QPR off to a flier after beating Portsmouth 1-3 with the promoted teams all drawing. Soton was disappointing so they will need to bounce back at home to Stoke this weekend.

In terms of this weekend MILLWALL v Norwich should be a cracker- Millwall were very solid at home last season with 13 wins 3 draws and 7 defeats. Norwich's away form was pretty good with 10 away wins and 5 draws - only 5 defeats. Should be goals in it so maybe overs is the way to go?

Dont think there any stand out bets in this league at the weekend but Birmingham and wrexham shd be hard to beat at home v Bristol and Watford respectively.

GL if u have a bet this weekend.

great win for Millwall with overs landed- didnt get btts unfortunately.

Charlton win at west hamShocked and brum and Wrexham both draw at home.
Report The Dragon August 26, 2026 9:26 AM BST
just noticed how many goals there have been in the championship so far this season- 136 with an average of just under 3 goals per game so far.

This is higher than in both league 1  and two  who have 112 and 118 goals respectively.

overs could be an angle looking at in this division

I don't follow domestic football at all closely, but I do keep an eye on WBA. Caught the Burnley game, and I thought they looked better than they have done for many years. Decent follow up effort against Newcastle, and probably not a bad thing that they lost. At least they now look as if they can score goals, something that has been a massive issue. Long way to go, but I thought the 25/1 was too big - obviously the 10/1 top 8 was very good - in the outright. I don't see why Birmingham are a shorter price. Their performance against Brentford was as bad as it gets.

some belting games this weekend including Boro v WBA and Soton v Millwall - i fancy all 4 teams to be up there at the end of the season.

In terms of value the two away teams Millwall - 3/1 and WBA -4/1 look overpriced given their great starts to the season and soton and boro dodgy starts so ive had two singles on a double on them.

Wrexham play Brum tonight and given Brums poor away form last season - lost 13 and only won 5 ive gone for a lay of them together with an under 2.5 goals and a draw.

Blackburn and QPR look to have goals in it but they are very high on my draw ratings so ive backed the draw.

Wolves and Charlton look solid home wins -but a watching brief on that one.

West ham must come good shortly and maybe they can get an away win at Watford.

Gl if you have any bets on the champ this weekend.

I thought Birmingham deserved their win tonight. If anything they might have won by a bigger margin. Decent set pieces, but I doubt they have enough quality to end up better than mid table. Wrexham looked very limited.

Victory for direct football. WBA need to learn very quickly, otherwise their game will soon be up. If all you do is play pretty football, and try and score the perfect goal, then you will be found out by better teams. Birmingham showed the importance of set pieces. Today Albion's set pieces were total rubbish, a complete waste. At times they will need a direct option which the current players don't seem to give them. I know Morgan scored today, but he isn't a target man, doesn't appear to have much pace, and I doubt he will bag you 20 goals a season. 12 Goals in 34 at Peterborough would seem to confirm that. They need a proper striker who can guarantee goals, and he isn't it. The nice football going forward also papers over the defensive frailties. They have to be able to defend set pieces a lot better. Signings are needed, but the next game is now a very big test.

Millwall and wba suffer heavy away defeats and a pretty blank weekend for me in this league.early days so no massive damage done.

full range of fixtures in midweek and im hoping that Millwall and QPR can win at home v wrexham and Cardiff.

Blackburn look a big price v unreliable newcomers lincoln.

some interesting fixtures to watch and see what happens including:

west ham v wolves - overs for me.

brum v soton- draw?

wba v charlton - home win?

Burnley v Boro - away win?

chancing a back of birmingham and a lay of norwich tonight/ it's early days, not enough form to be sure of. like the look of 2.3 for millwall tomorrow

Above average goals in the Championship so far, following this trend I go for a lot of BTTS bets from the Championship this midweek.

Games @ Brum, Stoke, Burnley, West Ham, QPR in five fourfolds @ 9/1 with Betfred. This allows for one team to slip up and you double your money.

That figure of 8 lol put back in there bag

Wolvers where much better team
Than from nowhere we scored a screamer
Silly pen
Didn’t knock Sail out cos nick one bzck straight away
Both sides defending was questionable
Westham are better side if means hitting on break
Cos we are piss poor in possession
Not going play wolvers  every week
When sit in against us find it hard break it down

Strange result but needed badly
Only negative I’d say
Keeps Nono in socks for few more weeks
I hope it’s turning point
But thought that was against Southampton

Our best two players kids been drop
For tonight strangely

1 in 3 seem to come back up pretty quickly...the rest eventually wind up in league 1  ...ex premier league graveyard

Looks as if I was much too premature in bigging up WBA. They had probably looked good against ordinary sides. I wouldn't take that 10/1 top 8 if I was offered it now. They still don't have a striker, generally lack pace, are seemingly useless at set pieces, and are suspect at the back. Goals are going to be an issue at both ends. No surprise if they end up nearer the bottom 8. Price already showing signs of going off the boil.

not sure why unbeaten charlton are 100/30away to stoke seems a bit big for a team that have  10 points out of a possible 12.away win at west ham and away draw at wba.

stoke lost 3 out of 4 and conceded 9 goals n 4 games. soton shd beat Lincoln but 5/6 away is short enough

I've had a small bet on Cardiff to beat Portsmouth today. Both teams have 3 points from 4 matches, Portsmouth have lost 3 including a 0-2 defeat at home to Derby earlier in the week. Cardiff have drawn 3 of theirs and this is a good opportunity to convert one to a win. (2.92).
Report differentdrum September 5, 2026 6:51 PM BST
I listened to the Albion match on local radio. They got over the line, but it sounded pretty desperate. You've got Bomber Brown cheering them taking it into the corner flag to waste time at the end of the match. Great club man but do we really want to advocate those sort of tactics?
