I'd imagine Tuchel would fancy a return to club management anyway, I can see him leaving even if he has an extended contract.
Guardiola might accept it, but he'd be a bad fit, he couldn't coach England players to play the way he wants, they don't have the same technical ability that the Man City players he had.
Pochettino ? would be a better fit, could only do so much with limited USA team.
Didier Dechamps? don't think he can speak a lick of English though.
Eddie Howe? can't do much more at Newcastle especially with PSR restrictions forcing them to sell best players etc.
I'd take Howe, English and generally plays positive forward. The German experiment has failed.

The Argie manager is on less than double what Tuchel is on at 2 million a year, Maradonna said he couldn't direct traffic, he's now directed them to 2 World Cup finals in road and a couple of Copa Americas, he was just an assistant before that, you don't need a glittering CV, you just need the right fit. You have to give the players some stick for giving Enzo and Messi the amount of space they got for both goals while playing a 5-4-1. No 5-4-1 formation involves giving up that much space in those areas, you populate all of them and close down, work your socks off, a world cup final at stake. That is not on the manager. Pickford deserves a lot of stick for the first too.

The manager has to take a lot of the blame but he didn't make a change as soon as we scored he waited a full 15 minutes before he made changes, by that point the players had already collapsed back to their own penalty area, I think he saw that and was shocked and tried to sure it up from that point.
However, once he saw what was happening he should have immediately acted but it seems he acted like a rabbit in the headlights, I'm not having the "out on their feet" narrative either, they weren't out on their feet the moment before Gordon scored and Argentina were not looking like world beaters the moment before Gordon scored either but we are asked to believe that both became so from the goal onwards. The total shambolic nature and desperation of the play gave the impression of them being out on their feet, but why that should happen to us and not Argentina makes no sense. What transpired was mostly down to the scoreline and it was the "mentality", that Tuchel was at pains to promote in the previous game, that cost us dearly. |

Pretty much agree Duffy.
Dropping in so many centre halfs was flawed as the space around the box had been surrendered, firstly on England right, then on left. Anderson leaves the goalscorer to cover Messi as others don't do the work. Bellingham then doesn't have time to cover when Messi spots gap and shifts it inside. If Bellingham had got there then it's shifted left to Alvarez who has unpressured shot. Argentinas in game reading of play was far better than ours, leading to them easily getting on top. |
