In the past when you only had 2 subs I’d say no point, most players were in trouble physically now with 5 subs teams should be ok.

Historically going straight to pens would be better considering something like 38 of 59 extra time matches in World Cup history have ended in pens. But the point of football is end a game in play, not from a long succession of dead ball situations like penalties are, which never decides who the best team is.
England were KO'd on pens in 96, 98, 04, 06, 12 20, we were never the worst team in any of those games, but the lottery of pens sent us out. Pens is always the last solution and always should be, which is why they used to have replays for games including finals, until hectic scheduling saw to that. Kind Regards. |
