England's World Cup last-16 tie with Mexico is set to be moved to 19:00 BST on Sunday.
Fifa is understood to be bringing forward the game at Azteca, Mexico City, which had been scheduled to kick off at 01:00 BST on Monday (18:00 local time on Sunday).
Forecasts suggest there could be thunderstorms and heavy rain around this time, although Fifa has not yet provided any explanation.
Fifa regulations for World Cup 2026 say they have the right to "cancel, reschedule or relocate" matches "at its sole discretion".

No, it's Andy Burnham thinking, I don't want Keir Starmer going out on a "I'm down with the kids" high by letting pubs stay open until 5am...had a word with the Donald

As i said on the other thread, are their forecasts really that accurate 48 hours in advance ?
Reg - shame there wasn't a storm at Worcester an hour or so ago - Kent 59 all out, pathetic

They were only chasing 143 as well Reg, must be a dodgy wicket but only being a 20/20 game Worcester will get away with it . Looking like Kent will struggle to qualify for the quarters now.

They did this at the World Cup in 2014, moved England v Italy from 2am to 11pm for no other reason than to appease the local audiences in Italy and England, they know they'd lose untold amount of viewers by blanking the whole of Europe out in general, makes normal commercial sense, what doesn't make sense is being confused with Dixie, the lowlight of my World Cup

Apologies, mes,I was midway between replying to both of you Although, to be fair, you both seem like good chaps...now if I'd mistaken you for xyz on here, I would understand your angst

Given that this was always the most likely match up you would have thought they would have scheduled the game for an earlier ko anyway.
Be funny if the storms come 6 hours early
Reg- just watched the Kent collapse v Worcester, lovely sunny evening 4k crowd and they get a rubbish game like that, home crowd will be happy with the win no doubt. Looked a poor wicket, ball doing a lot, Worcester bowled mainly spinners. Kent batting was abject and there were 2 run outs, one didn't look out but the second one was comedy gold.

Mexico vs. England at World Cup to kick-off early due to risk of weather - sources
MEXICO CITY -- The World Cup match between Mexico and England on Sunday is likely to have its kick-off time changed due to the risk of weather disruption including flooding, sources told ESPN.
Kick-off is set to become 12 p.m. local time at the Azteca Stadium, which is 7 p.m. in the UK and 2 p.m ET.
FIFA took lessons from last year's Club World Cup which was blighted by six major weather delays in 63 matches. The governing body is now in ongoing discussions to move the Mexico vs. England kick-off time amid the threat of bad weather, sources told ESPN.
Article 6.9 of FIFA's World Cup regulations states: "FIFA has the right to cancel, reschedule or relocate one or more matches (or the entire FIFA World Cup 2026) for any reason at its sole discretion, including as a result of force majeure or due to health, safety or security concerns."
England playmaker Morgan Rogers said of the potential change: "It's just another obstacle to overcome. We'll be ready regardless of the time.
"Earlier the better because you want to play. There is enough thinking about what is going to happen and the build-up -- you just want to play the game.
"Getting that adrenaline out there will help us and get us going and playing. We're looking forward to it whatever the time is.
"I'm not concerned about it, but won't be happy if it wakes me up, I'll be honest. We'll deal with it as best as possible. It's another obstacle to get over."
Mexico and England meet in the World Cup round of 16. Getty England team-mate Marcus Rashford also downplayed the impact of a potential kick-off change.
"I think for us it's the same, how we prepare for the game," the forward said. "It has to be the same, we have to be focused, we have to be ready for anything.
"I think it's one strength of the group, everyone included, the players, the staff, we're ready for whatever challenges get thrown at us. Obviously it's not ideal, but also it doesn't matter."
A kick-off alteration would only add to what England boss Tuchel knew would be "a lot, a lot, a lot of obstacles" awaiting them in Mexico.
An intimidating atmosphere awaits at the Azteca, while the visitors are braced for hostility outside the team hotel.
But altitude could be the biggest challenge, with the match taking place more than 2,000 metres above sea level.
Tuchel said: "My understanding is that we cannot adapt to the altitude.
"That is just a huge advantage that Mexico will have. It just takes too much time.
"We have only three days in between [the round of 32] win over Congo DR and the Mexico game]. This is physically just not possible to adapt to the altitude, which is quite high.
"We knew that before, so this is just something, it's just a disadvantage, with which we will have to deal. I think we showed the attitude that we are ready for that and from there we go."

Seemingly Mexico and England management both unhappy with the switch.
The Mexican FA reportedly found out about the plan from broadcasters, which suggests TV was behind the move all along and the weather was a cover story.

I don't even think there was any bad weather forecast. Utter disregard for the players and fans of both teams (and Brazil/Norway too as that was to be rescheduled).

England were booed as they arrived at their Mexico City hotel to prepare for their World Cup last-16 game against Mexico.
There is increased security at England's hotel after Ecuador, whom Mexico played in the last 32 in Mexico City, lodged a noise complaint with Fifa.
Ecuador players were deliberately kept awake by local supporters, who used loudspeakers, horns and motorcycles outside the team hotel late at night.

They're making so much money out of this Tournament as it is. To try to wring out even more advertising revenue by messing with the official start times is disgraceful. Especially if the respective FA's were not even consulted. The World Cup is about football, not bloated, Media Corporations and their profits.

It was definitely the broadcasters putting pressure on
Why didn't these mugs organisers and broadcasters think about this pre-tournament, England v Mexico was the most likely outcome at this stage by most people's reckoning, yet they set the local time in UK at 1am despite broadcasters paying huge fees. Same with Holland v Morocco in the dead of the night in their game. Gary Neville was raging saying they've never done this before, there's no precedent - wasn't Gary Neville on the England coaching team for England at the 2014 World Cup when they Moved England v Italy from 2am to 11pm.
Kind Regards
