He has his own stand-by list which he spoke about, and Chalobah was top of that list if a full back slot opened up, Trent couldn't even make a 36 man squad for the March friendlies. Southgate didn't even know what to do with him.

Whoever came in wouldn't have started of have been a sub, Livramento was just a squad filler and so is his replacement,  could have flew in from Australia and it wouldn't have mattered. He named 11 defenders in the 35 man squad in March, 9 defenders for this World Cup, then a replacement, he has great technical ability in the final third, but a defender, he clearly thinks he's cack.
