Collina asked for protocol to be updated so the VAR could step in if a foul occurred before the ball was in play.
The Ifab has now accepted the request, and says that any foul before the ball is in play that has a direct impact can be reviewed. This will apply to a goal, penalty kick or disciplinary sanction which happens on a corner or free-kick The measure will be applied for the World Cup and reassessed after the tournament |

should make a big difference to number of goals scored from corners and free kicks
By:
No more long throw in then cant see players leaving pitch in 10 seconds.
By:
think will need longer hydration breaks in some games if there's rules elsewhere to speed up the game
By:
How about stop waterihg the pitch ball is stopping dead so it dont go out of play
By:
Good changes, but only if they're enforced.

if all brought in to EPL
RIP ARSENAL and ARTETA ![]() |

I wonder how long they will give them to take a corner!!!
By:
biggesr bug bear for me watching games in the ground ,is the game basicaly stops for a tea break at every attacking corner, throw in,free kick
By:
Spot on 1tp,and looks like that's not being altered
By:
throw ins are actually by far the worst
By:
Bring opposite side full back across to take
throw in, make sure defensive mid who can't head ball isn't on a card and is last man, ready for tactical foul... Select any ball not being offered by ball boy |
By:
Less time for throw-ins, substitutions, injury leaves more time for hydration breaks (oops, I meant TV advertising breaks).

This has all the hallmarks of being the biggest **** up in world sport bar none. Its going to be farcical. Hardly giving the players ANY time to digest it all. Any chance of stopping the clock for injuries and var decisions? Seeing the clock tick on for 4 minutes is laughable.

Doing their best to ruin a great & simple game.

By:
Arsenal are screwed.

By:
Not going to be many arguments there is there? Oh, it was 9.5 seconds not 10 seconds, etc etc...
By:
would never but BORO up there as dark arts time wasters quite the opposite and certainly not the keeper sol Bryn in comparison to others ,majority at the riverside but SOL got done twice for 8 second rule last eaon, cant remember many others getting pulled , is it a corner given ?
By:
The 9.5/10 thing is sorted by 5 second countdown
by ref, same as goal kicks. Thing is for throw ins if no player has ball he can't begin count down, or can he,... To be continued. |
By:
Beats me why football doesn't use an independent stop/start clock like American football. Everyone then knows exactly where they stand time-wise.
By:
Maybe because then it would start to feel like all those horrible yank 'clock sports' they have over there instead of footy

Im all for stopping clock and finishing at 90
By:
Stop all the pretend injuries
By:
For players who go down holding their face after the slightest of contact I'd like to see a pink tutu introduced

No more delayed flag?

Automatic red card for high-fiving a teammate who concedes a corner kick.
By:
Have any of these new rules been used yet?
By:
Almiron should have read this
By:
Not a law change but going head to head instead of goal difference means more dead games , hardly an improvement , turkey and haiti out and usa group winners .
By:
Almiron already had a yellow for diving in the first game and previous friendly a yellow for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Guys a liability or very stupid |
By:
... was for Newcastle too, if I remember?

Red card for covering his mouth. I am now applying for jobs at Premier Teams as a teacher of ventriloquism. Players will then be able to call the referee a “ silly ar** as in Lord Charles and Ray Allen.
