Some flops there. Anyone put up the bargains of the season?
Report DixieDean60 May 24, 2026 8:36 PM BST
I would be quite happy to see Rory Delap at Everton next season, Chelsea was never going to suit him .

Plenty of waste in that list, but as some clubs treat money as confetti i imagine we will see similar this summer.

Everton can now sign Jack Grealish for £50m but i can't see them parting with that kind of cash at his age even though i'd love to see him stay at the club.

Kroupi at Bournemouth has to be in the running for signing of the last season, just £10m Shocked
Report MrStrawMan May 24, 2026 8:47 PM BST
Newcastle have made some bad buys in the premier league , woltemade 8 goals , wissa 1 goal , elanga 1 assist
Report tobermory May 24, 2026 8:53 PM BST
Chelsea didn't spend as much on their flops as Liverpool/Newcastle but the Chelsea ones are contracted until 2032
Report Susquehanna May 24, 2026 9:20 PM BST
Isak was injured a lot, then had to be eased back in, can't be him!, Wirtz massive flop, but misused by Slot, and benched a few times, Played right hand side of attack sometimes, other times looked like he was playing number 10. Elanga and Woltemade started on the bench dozens of times between them, more Howe fault then them being flops. Wissa injured for ages, Kudus injured, but look Tottenham's best player before that, Garnacho useless, showpony, but couldn't get rhythm when starting now and again, Delap and Gittens the same.

I'd say Gittens though, mostly because I couldn't even tell you if he looks good or not as I don't even remember seeing him play, 50 million pounds and I genuinely doubt he would be recognised on the Kings Road.

Newcastle would be relegated had Woltemade not done so well early in season.

Elanga has struggled, as has wissa.
Report duffy May 24, 2026 9:27 PM BST
I'd go for Woltemade out of that list as I think that they may have paid £69 million for someoe who "may" not actually be a footballer.
Report brentford May 24, 2026 9:38 PM BST
Nah, Woltemade is a player imo...quite how you best use him is another question..and as a very young player needs those around him to be firing which some weren't this season and actually learn the PL - seen enough of that with Utd and indeed some of the names above him on tobes' list..

he's good with his feet, a genuine aerial threat and when confident a decent finisher...buying  the likes of him, Hojlund and even Sesko who had a 'bigger' CV means growing pains at times...

Wissa I think they may have got wrong but messy transfer and injury didn't help..

Lammens at Utd is of the chart of ones that spring to mind ...17m...worth 40-50m already

A few for consideration for batgains  , Calvert-Lewin free 14 goals , Truffert 14 million , Roefs 9 million , Le Fee 19 million , Brobbey 21 million , 3 from Sunderland but considered against prices paid for other players

DCL was out of contract so not really a bargain buy Grin

Not seen any yet who compare to Kroupi, 13 goals including scoring against Arsenal , Utd and City. A steal at £10m, how much is he worth now ? Yet another example of how Bournemouth have a knack for uncovering gems that seems to evade many other clubs.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 24, 2026 10:46 PM BST
Bournemouth get these lads because they are prepared to play them.

Sell them on, until the pipeline fails.

One of them was supposed to join Newcastle, but agent got him
into Bournemouth, up his value, another transfer to follow, more cash.
Report Flemenstar May 25, 2026 12:47 PM BST
Kroupi a great signing but Lorient are basically their feeder club; unlikely that he would have gone anywhere else. Think owners own both clubs

worst signing has to be Pablo for West Ham. Barely looks like he can kick a ball and funds would have been better used elsewhere

2nd place Xavi Simons, a good footballer for sure but not suited to the league and Spurs could have done with someone with more consistency and output
Report tobiasr May 25, 2026 1:12 PM BST
dibling. apparently he signed for everton
Report DixieDean60 May 25, 2026 2:06 PM BST
To be fair to Dibling he was signed as one for the future as opposed to someone who was expected to hit the ground running last season at Everton.

That said, i mentioned at the time he signed that i thought the fee was well over the top. Moyes says he still rates him, but given he only played a few minutes in the second half of the season then i'm not so sure of that. There is talk of him going back to Southampton on loan next season and if so i think it would be a good move for all concerned.

Surely Harvey Elliott has to be the worst signing of the season.
Report MALAY May 25, 2026 8:29 PM BST
Sometimes it just doesn’t work out for players at certain clubs, the player doesn’t have any input into fee paid all the input he has in his contract and what his employer is prepared to pay him.
I remember Andy Cole having doubters when he just started at Old Trafford but he turned it around in no uncertain terms.
Players can turn it around if they have support of manager and fans, although I do think the fee was excessive Liverpool paid Newcastle but good luck to lad if he proves me wrong.
Best signing the big lad who signed for Celtic on a free at last minute , class player, can’t run but can certainly play.
