An independent disciplinary commission could kick Southampton out of the Championship play-offs if they are found to have filmed and observed a Middlesbrough training session. The Saints are charged with breaching two EFL regulations around acting in good faith and watching other teams train in the days before they are scheduled to play against them.

Its the same for the Premier League , West Ham Tottenham and Man City still listed for relegation , but shouldnt all teams be listed as any team not just man city could be docked points at any time .

Must be least 25/1 to boot them out and replace them with Boro. Great lay seeing as that has to come in and then they would still need to beat Hull

absolutely no chance that Southampton will be kicked out. No chance at all.

I do not think that their is enough time to kick the saints out even if they wanted to . Because the appeal system would take to long and drag out probably into  next season without the play off final being able to be take place .

I've no idea whether they can prove it.  I don't think there is enough time and there is no precedent which surely make is more difficult and they have the right of appeal.  I don't think forfeit is commensurate with "the crime" which is legal on the continent.  So I think it's a big long shot.  I'm normally on the other end of these things and should have known it could blow up in the press, (I think fundamentally it's the "leaked story" that those in power favour a non financial penalty that's affected the prices) but the early settlement by Betfair lulled me into a false sense of security when I backed Saints at 1.48 post settlement.  You live and learn.

I agree that the press are trying to play down the seriousness
of the crime.

Even BBC guy was laughing at iPhone being a professional
device, but of course it's great in his eyes when it's the
actual device being used for var offsides.

Likely they've been led down the avenue by hints...

5.0 being backed on Boro. Seems insane to me. Hard to get involved when you never know who knows what.

Thought he was gonna make £50 for five minutes work. probably got away with a three grand red in the end.

You can't buy back a bet that size DIE LINKE, unless the backer is looking to completely get out.  It's completely out of kilter with market liquidity.  You have to sweat it out

I had about a £1k swing which I reduced to £350.  For me that was the point where the difference didn't keep me thinking about the market.  I had a floor and ceiling price which I was getting out in drabs, laying bits on Saints and backing bits on Boro.  If too many people jump in front you cancel (because it's a market where news is dynamic and can heppen at any time), or you sit and wait for an acceptable offer, which I did aswell.  And that was moving say £700.  £50k = no chance whatsoever

the uncertainty isnt good for the fans... time off work, hotels, travel tickets etc. If only the EFL, and the Premier League and world football in general took the same view of cheating by players on the pitch.

I don't want anyone,s dirty leftover,s but would happily see ,saints kicked out and hull promoted, but this I phone rubbish,  feature films are now filmed on an I phone,I hope saints have a better defence than telling apple their I phones arnt high tech, what were aints fans expecting a bloke with the BBC tv  outside broadcast unit  with them,
I think it will end with tonda getting sacked or a 6 to 12 months suspension, a big fine and big pt deduction next time their in championship if it cant be served in epl that, as saints fans been telling us spying ,info, coaching from sideline etc is no advantage losing their coach wont bother them

It is amazing these big organiastions dont have things in place , if a member of the coaching staff manager etc is caught spying then they are deducted 3 points , so no point in doing it , for play offs you are kicked out , no club would risk it then .

On the other hand why have rules that can be ignored.

Sounds like they've been at it more than once

Why would they repeatedly cheat if it wasn't worth the effort.

Point I was making is that they should have something in place that sorts it out quickly, as it's completely unfair on innocent parties like Hull and Boro. The hearing deadline itself is another 5 days away!

Even if it's a case of gathering evidence, they know they'd be an appeal and that'd drag on, therefore they should have a points of fine punishment in place for the following season, if said club is promoted then they incur the pts deduction next time they are relegated, or whatever the best idea is, better than leaving every club, fan and broadcaster in limbo.

Swindon were effectively kicked out of the top division in 1990. They beat Sunderland in the Play Offs but their place was given to Sunderland, because Swindon broke FL rules.

The FL have said the P/O Final could be delayed this year.

Having a list of sanctions would be good, but here we
have a case against Southampton against Middlesborough,
that has been added to as other clubs voice their concerns.

You'd think the iPhone tracking would show where burgess
Philby and Maclean were in the run up to those games.

my punishment which would protect the EFL clubs from a club found guilty of cheating if they get promoted and then relegated or fail to get promoted would be
3 or 4 transfer incoming window embargo,s , so their ill-gotten gains from cheating wont help them and a double digit pts reduction for next season in championship
never looked at  sov prices for over a month but funnily enough in Redcar this morning and pointed out to wife in window of market X jewelers ,retail price was 1,299 quid for one in window LaughLaugh

for those who say there's no advantage to be gained ,the clearest recent example would  be Eddie howe and his coaching staff having 48 hr notice of arsenal,s short corner routine which completely bamboozled them for 45 mins, caused arguments between players, between players and coaching staff trying to sort it out in real time

I doubt they'd be on holiday knowing that a sanction was possible.

But this seem a tad harsh imo.
