Arsenal football club 2025/26

No one is accepting that they’re champions of England.

VAR has handed them the title with the largest amount of corners verdicts landing at their feet in the history of the game.

They will be forever known as the tainted champions of English football 2025/26.

Well done Arsenal on your somewhat shallow and embarrassing triumph- PGMOL will be at the street parade!

It does seem strange that they can change the rules during the season.

It’s a mockery

Tony, there are certain posters on here whose comments are well worth a read and whose opinions often matter. You're not one of them. In fact, and I don't want to be unnecessarily indelicate, you do come across as a complete and utter f**ktard.

Thanks.

Tainted? Crazy

It’ll be amazing if a team with a championship standard striker win the league and that says a lot about the rest of the teams in it! Laugh
Report DixieDean60 May 11, 2026 4:27 PM BST
It just shows how poor the overall standard is Dela.

Unfortunately average players are being deified just because they can pass the ball successfully to a team mate now and then.

Arsenal have found a way to win which is the antithesis of "The Beautiful Game".

VAR has sucked the life out of the game.
Good luck to those who are happy to shell out their hard earned to witness it, but - it's a no from me. I would be reluctant to attend an EPL game these days even if i had a free ticket.

Is it true they'll get a wrestling belt rather than the PL trophy?

I've been offered free ticket a couple of times this season and turned them down.

I much prefer mt firestick and LazyBoy. Far superior catering and bogs here too.

Agree Dixie and it’s backed up by talk of taking Wellbeck to the World Cup.

I think it’s overplayed however that Arsenal play boring football, it’s become predictable but then that’s down to the manager and the current players again.

He’s been happy to keep Saka on the right wing and has never tried to expand him as a player and give him a freer role.

It was sad to see Foden sign a contract to sit on the bench, where’s the drive?

One thing for certain is that some of these players really don’t need the World Cup this year, they’re knackerd so that’s gonna be wasted trip! Crazy

The anti-Arsenal seethe is delicious.Laugh
Report DixieDean60 May 11, 2026 6:01 PM BST
It's an anti PL seethe Wesdag, not specifically Arsenal related. I know it's hard for you to comprehend but please try to keep up.

That said, given all the money sloshing around the league, its ironic that it seems a team that is just highly functional is going to win it rather than a team that is easy on the eye . For most of us football is about entertainment, something that is often lacking in the obscenely cash soaked top flight.

Come to sjp, it's been an entertaining season albeit very disappointing for any
supporters who don't enjoy the competition.

Wes my comments weren’t anti Gooners but I see lots are and I’ll be glad that Man City might not win the league this year!

They were so arrogant after their clash and that side eyed look that the Viking gave the camera before taking his hair out band, urrrghh Laugh

Bottom line is everyone is a victim. IMHO the right decision was made. You listen to Rangers and Celtic fans for an example, each believes they are picked on, not saying which is right or wrong, that is football fans for you. There will always be conspiracy theories. I wish a machine was available that could re referee every game during the 25/26 Premiership season and show what the table would have been.

Games change based on refereeing decisions

Sadly we will never know.

Referees are no longer making decisions that they realize in the moment are critical decisions because they are scared to death of being referred to to the review screen if VAR think there's an issue.

They are now increasingly doing nothing and waiting for VAR to decide on these moments as being referred to the screen after initially not being involved means they are under less pressure.

The problem that we also might see more of particularly toward the end of the season when the decisions have much more consequences is when both the Ref and VAR sort of defer to one another, the Ref initially not making a call and the VAR too scared to pick up the baton too.

The incident right at the death last night could have fallen into that category.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- May 12, 2026 3:26 PM BST
2 red cards in game at weekend not given by ref, but sent to screen.

I do think you are correct that they are using var to
help them rather than being decisive, and that's not what it's for.
Report BULLET TOOTH TONY May 12, 2026 9:39 PM BST
Watching the Southampton v Boro game and it just convinced me even more that VAR has ruined the game. This is how football should be. The Ref is actually making decisions and it is adding to the occasion. VAR has destroyed top flight football in Europe and in the premier league.

Forever more the winners of the top flight are contentious beneficiary on a meaningless triumph!

Everything in the media is killing it as a spectacle and rightly so as its not been used correctly!! please can football return to what it was before VAR

Greece won the Euros in 2004, mostly winning 1-0 with boring defensive football.
Report DixieDean60 May 31, 2026 9:32 PM BST
Not really comparable though TTT - Greece were a limited side, technically inferior to the tournament big guns and so had to play "boring defensive football" in order to compete. They were 150/1 outsiders with some bookies Shocked

Arsenal on the other hand had just been crowned champions of the "best league in the world".

Big difference.
