Why are punters who hardly ever post anything always so incredulous at lack of activity? It's the same with complaints about unecessary suspensions and interface glitches. Always lots of 30-posts-a-year types complaining. It's no skin off my nose, but it seems a bit odd to me.

What happened as I remember he was banned, came back in what he thought was a blaze of glory but I seem to have missed him buggering off in a hissy fit again. |

spyker, not sure why mes doesn't post on the footy anymore as he must still visit these hallowed pages as he was a regular on the Australian Open tennis thread.

No, they gradually banned some of the most active posters years ago for wrongspeak. It used to be a thread for each big TV match with hundreds of posts. Same with tennis.
Now we have one thread per weekend with spurs fans doing a human vidiprinter service when everyone has faster live updates on their phones. |

This forum is from the year 2000. We are now in 2026.
Now there is X and WhatsApp and God knows what else A lot of 2000s style messageboard forums are still going much better than this. It didn't have to be like it is. The betfair forum died because of decisions made by betfair. Firstly the upgrade in May 2010 (ironically intended to make it more like Facebook), nobody liked it much, and this alone caused about a 25% drop in posting. Secondly the 'upgrade' created a loophole that allowed anyone that was banned to create a new account immediately. By August 2012 this caused so much chaos that new joiners were 'temporarily' banned. No one was allowed to join at all for about 18 months, normal sign ups never resumed. Occasionally you see a batch of newbies on the same date - eg April 2nd, 2025 - a lot of whom seem to be previously banned people. But generally 95% of posters have a join date earlier than 2013. When the forum was busy about a third of the posts were from people who had been here less than 6 months. |
