Think the gambling commission should ban all free bets and introductory offers,rather than make the bookies deal with compliance and affordability checks.
Like Las Vegas casinos pumping oxygen into the casino,keeping customers playing isn’t great. Minimum pricing on acholol has been brought in,no 2for 1 shots or cheap vodka etc. These low level free bets are clearly aimed at low income punters. Big players aren’t bothered about a free 5 quid bet,but it encourages the wrong people to keep betting. Like the lottery has loads of 2 quid winners,to encourage them to re buy. Better to stop this,than make the bookies monitor bigger players, If you can afford to lose big,then,tough,lose big. But tempting poorer customers with free bets is crazy. Think this would help bookies and help problem gamblers. |
