Good question, I have no idea so asked artificial intelligence...

While specific 1980s-only datasets are rare, historical analysis and notable matches from the era illustrate the following trends:

Winning Probability: Teams with a player sent off had only a 23% chance of winning and an 18% chance of drawing.
Goal Disadvantage: A red card at half-time historically reduces a team's expected goal difference by approximately 0.85 goals.
Defensive Resilience: High-profile 1980s matches showed that elite teams could sometimes overcome the deficit. In the 1985 FA Cup Final, Manchester United became the first team to have a player (Kevin Moran) sent off in a final but still managed to beat Everton 1–0 in extra time.

Can't compare because you can't say 10 men now it has to be 10 players

You can say 10 men but you will be ruled offside and possibly red carded.
