Advert breaks...

Fifa has announced that water breaks will be enforced during every game at next year’s World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada.
The water breaks will last for three minutes and will be called by referees at the midway point of each half.

Heatstroke was a major issue last time the U.S. staged the W.C. ( I am led to believe ) but I can’t help but think this is crass device to a) increase advertising revenues, and, b) turn matches into four period affairs.  Who knows?  Hopefully it does benefit the players who are after all the most important feature of the event.

It should be like baseball: 9 ten-minute innings—one team attacks for 5 minutes and then the other.

Anyone who was thinking of going almost certainly won't now. When I posted about 6 months ago that this was coming  and anyone who has posted a pic of an orange with a wig on wouldn't be allowed in I was derided. Why would anyone spend thousands on air fares ,tickets and hotels only to be turned round due to 1 post  on instagram made 3 years ago?
I wouldn't be allowed in for this post! Welcome to fascist America everyone.

The wooden planks should never get another wc after this. But they own 11 out of the required 14 in the PL and already have refs mic'd up like the NFL, so expect 4 x 15 minute clocked quarters with ad breaks before there's another 3 wcs.

It's becoming a rich man's game, and enough rich people
around to keep those prices high for many of those games.

I got another email today offering me to enter a ballot
for the next tranche of tickets.

Roy Keane gave us the nod thirty years ago with “corporate box” and “prawn cocktail” jibes.  It is now entrenched in the game.  Elitism.

Sport is a rich man's game in the USA, and getting more expensive every day.  Politics (and life) in the USA has been run for the elite since the early Eighties.  The average price for an NFL game is $156.  In the Eighties it was $10 to $30 (according to AI)

I remember going to Leeds v Boro or Boro v Leeds in the Old First Division, and it being 60 pence, somewhere prolly between 79-81 (albeit those were the cheapest tickets in the ground and I was under 16)

Ticket prices 1981 First Division
Standing
Arsenal £1.80
Villa £1.50
Birmingham £1.50
Brighton £2.00 joint most expensive in Old First Division!!
Middlesboro £1.30 joint cheapest
Man City £1.30 joint cheapest!!
Man Utd £1.40
Nottm Forest £2.00 Seats £5 most expensive!! That's Clough for you

Now unbelievably, the most expensive standing tickets were in Division Two at an exorbitant price of £2.50!  Doncaster was the cheapest at £1

Freedom of the Betfair Football Forum if anyone gets or knows the answer to which club had the most expensive.

£1 in 1981 is about £3 now

Man City had the cheapest seats at £1.60 and the cheapest Season ticket prices at £26.

£1 in 1981 is worth £3.90 now.  I misread the calculation before

Unreal prices them Clydebank

So you could watch all the teams in the top flight for less than £8 in todays money to stand.

And a max of £20 in todays money for a seat. (Most in the £10 ish bracket in todays money)

Just a rip off today, and still have thousands at the likes of Liverpool unable to get a ticket.

No longer a working mans game. For the rich and tourists nowadays. To get a ticket easy these days at Liverpool you have to pay £180 for a hospitality ticket. Match ticket and a sandwich and 1 drink at a nearby hotel.

Targeted at tourists who may have just 1 chance to watch  a game, and so will pay it.
