I think Newcastle is a very good game for City, they now want sides to come on to them and then counter attack, Newcastle will oblige and play right into their hands.

Arsenal should've won it last year, imo. They let slot off the hook. Liverpool were mediocre for much of last season as well, but Slot got away with it, somehow.

MOTD showed a graphic like the automated offside graphic (wasn't shown during the live game I don't think) which is way off from what the rule states for the 2nd Newc goal. Showed the line as bottom of sleeve instead of bottom of armpit (hip looks further goalward) and on the graphic he looks offside if they'd used the right line.
Report lurka November 23, 2025 12:19 AM GMT

People stopping their tvs trying to guess when ball leaves woltemades
head are prone to getting it wrong.

The graphic produced for TV is odd as the line stops
at underside of citeh players arm instead of continuing upwards
through his upper arm.

The citeh player is also show to be off the ground
as his shadows don't touch his feet, as Brunos do.
Citeh player did not jump...

They got foden pelanty wrong though.

A yellow and pelanty is best decision.

Maybe they were swayed by not giving Hall a pelanty 5 minutes
earlier. Maybe the 2 citeh players calling for a corner put
off the referee.
Report duffy November 23, 2025 1:17 PM GMT
That was a stonewall penalty, it was reckless and dangerous and could have injured Foden yet they basically ignored that fact because Foden had just got his shot away prior to the challenge, but....so what!!!

Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- November 23, 2025 1:34 PM GMT
Well yeah, it needs to be a yellow card for it to be a pelanty
if its after a shot has gone, that's the rules they are
playing to.

Ref looks away, following ball and misses it, then var
can step in.... It's a pelanty Mr referee we are sending
you to monitor...

There were a couple of fouls in the game where ref
didn't get card out, so maybe he's just set a high threashold
and so var didn't jump in.

It would be so much better if we could hear ref and
Var so we understand why these decisions are made.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- November 23, 2025 1:46 PM GMT
Ref also bottled red card for donnarumma, he books he for
screaming dissent at him, shows him a card, and he runs over
to ref for more chat and gets hold of ref.

Citeh constantly had groups of players around ref
and no sanction, no cards, no shooing away.

The diving gets much less reward these days but
they still constantly feel a bit of contact and go down.

Looks silly when ref plays on and the get up and run back.

Well that was a pleasing result after just one win for the toffees at OT in 32 years.
Hardly expected to win it in such circumstances of course, christ knows why you would start fighting your own team mate especially so early in the game.
Gana was very silly, totally out of character for him but if anything it seemed to spur the remaining ten men on. He has apologised to his team mates apparently and rightly so, we won't see him in an EFC shirt for a while as after his suspension he will be off to play in the Africa competition.

An excellent defensive display albeit against a clueless Utd side who could have gone 4th or 5th with a win tonight, shows the lack of real quality in the EPL imo.
An added bonus is being above our neighbours in the table. stop the season now Laugh
