The longest possible round trip in the UEFA Champions League would be between CD Santa Clara (based in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, competing in the Portuguese Primeira Liga) and FC Kairat Almaty (based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, competing in the Kazakhstan Premier League).

Both clubs have participated in UEFA competitions and could theoretically face each other if they qualify for the Champions League group or league phase.

A round trip would be 10071 miles

The historical record is 8588 miles for Kairat Almaty's round trip to Sporting CP in Lisbon during the 2025/26 season.

The longest trip is believing we could win the World Cup these last 60 years! It seems like only yesterday we were singing about 30 years of hurt!

Barca are still mad keen to play in Miami and in the future possibly LA & Mexico.

They say expanding their fan base is the only way they can compete with the Premier League.

They are right. There is a huge Latino market and they should be tapping into it before expanding into the even more massive Asian market.

I am not in  favour of it myself. I th8nk it demeans the League. The NFL has milked its domestic market. The only way it can expand is by doing what it is doing. The th8ng is football is the World game. Nothing can compete and the money men have cast their evil eye on it.

Longest Prem trip is Bournemouth to Newcastle, 294 straight line distance

Barcelona to Madrid is further than that and that's only the half way point of the country, 314 miles

Barca all the way to Seville is 516 miles and to Celta Vigo it's 564 miles.

Don't think many away fans travel in La Liga thoguh.

Kind Regards.

The prize for the longest trip in FA competitions still stands with Falmouth Town, who travelled 956 miles to play Bedlington Terriers in the 2000 FA Vase.

Wonder how many away Truro fans will be doing that today - if it's more than about 30 would be pretty amazing!
